Latest News
We've had a big week this week at Heysham with the Swing Lounge getting some new additions. In fact, we aren't far away from full completion getting to the point of the project where we start looking ahead to the room being ready. Remember, our launch is taking place on Saturday, 6 February more on that later. In shop news we are also creeping into the exciting part of 2016, the time where we get all the new equipment! I find it exciting and only this week did we get a delivery of the new Titleist 816 hybrids (they're tremendous). To coincide with new equipment arriving daily, we are launching a campaign for two keen golfers to become our test dummies for the next six weeks or so. If you're interested, read on! I am writing this newsletter from 36000 feet sat in a Ryanair tin can on the way to Tenerife, work hard, play hard. Linda will look after you all whilst I am away this week.
Members News
Unfortunately we had to cancel yet another Winter League this week, which makes it five so far this season. Is there light at the end of the tunnel? I hope so, the club needs it and more importantly needs the members' support, so grab a beer after your game this week to put back into our great club.
A big thanks to everyone who paid their respects to the lovely Jim Fox this Monday and celebrated his life. I'm sure you all shared some funny stories about the charismatic Scot and we will all miss him!
Be our Clubfit golf official Tester!
Fancy trying all the new 2016 equipment as it lands in our shop? We need a category one handicapper and a mid-high handicapper to become our test dummies.
What's involved?
Our dummies will try a new product (or two) every week and write us a small witty report on their findings giving the tested clubs a grade at the end. That report will be included in a special section in our newsletter every week whilst new equipment comes in. You will receive FREE range balls and the chance to do some FREE testing.
Register your interest in the shop and we will announce our two new crash test dummies next week.
Project Clubfit
I'd like to commend Dave Hutchinson and his team for their work in recent weeks as the short game area has really started to take shape. This week Dave has started on the areas where the striking mats will be on the pitching area and turfed the new chipping green. The chipping green will have special striking areas to allow for winter use. All these facilities are going to be linked with a pathway all the way to the spike bar entrance. We cannot wait to show all the work off when we've completed the project, but for now check out some pics we've taken this week.
HGC legacy
We are going ahead with our HGC monogram feature and you have the opportunity to become a part of it by buying a personalised brick or two with your own message on.
During the process of replacing the current pathways we will be including a monogram of HGC in brickwork. The bricks making up the monogram will be eligible for personalisation and will be engraved giving you a chance to be part of the HGC legacy. You may want to be part of the landscape for years to come or create a fitting tribute for a loved one.
We are asking for £59 sponsorship for each brick to contribute to the costs of this project and with this you will get the following:
A unique brick tailored to your own specifications.
The engraving will be highlighted in gold for maximum effect.
The size of the brick is based on a standard block paving brick.
The wording gives you two lines with sixteen characters per line.
Application forms are available at the pro shop, behind the bar, from the office or via the HGC website. Once you have completed the form please hand it in at the pro shop, behind the bar or at the office along with payment for each engraved brick. Payment can be made by card, cash or cheque made payable to Heysham Golf Club. The cut off date for orders is Sunday, 14 February 2016. We are aiming to complete the pathway by Easter so we need to ask you to get your orders in as soon as you can.
