A big thanks to all those that attended the Callaway fitting day we held on Wednesday, thanks also to our fitter for the day, Andy, who brought with him the offering from Callaway. I managed to sneak a few whacks in as well with a couple of items, particularly impressed with the XR fairway wood I had the pleasure of striking. For those who don't know, our very own Jack Senior carries the Great Big Bertha driver and fairway woods in his bag, that's when he's not cracked the face.
I was also excited to have a new Adidas stand delivered to showcase our Spring/Summer stock on the shop floor. Check out our new clothing brand which is now on display, Oscar Jacobson brings a high quality refined clothing line to Heysham, offering a wide range of garments from trousers to the already popular, zip-neck sweaters; check the kit out when you're next in.
I am gearing up to a busy Sunday this week as we have our first Spring open, the 2016 Texas Scramble. The 4-man team event has attracted around 45 entries, so I shall be very busy, and due a beer or 2, on Sunday night.
Over the next few weeks/months I am starting a new initiative to offer our members and customers a better service. Part one of this service is to reach out to our customers who support our business and may have a business of their own, read on to find out how you can feature in our newsletter for FREE, to give your local business a little promotion.

I've learned this week the importance of varying your practice and lessons to help bring the best out of your game. Lessons are the perfect way to help improve technique or to regularly keep your swing in order but to improve you have to put in the hours of practice. I tell my students to practice but then to keep the swing thoughts to a minimum out on the golf course, if you can do that then your swing changes will come together without the need to overthink on the course. This week i did a couple of course lessons and it brought up the challenge that golf truly offers, different lies, conditions and the inevitable 'unlucky' shot. The best way to improve this is to play from different lies when you are out on the golf course, find a quiet time and chuck a few balls down in some dodgy lies. If you want to do what Charlie & Max did last night an play a few holes with myself to learn some course management advice contact me to book Swing Lounge Saturday Morning Offer Calling all under18s! Spring Medal
Last Sunday was our first singles event of the year; the Spring Medal attracted 153 golfers and offered the perfect opportunity for golfers to test our their games after a Winter of hibernation.
Division 1 winner Adrian Lockhart pipped NR specialist Adam Hutchinson in a card play-off ,with a one-under round of 69. Dave Robinson was the best score overall in division 2, with a 76-11-65; I'm sure everyone has heard about it by now. Robbo also picked up £50 pro shop credit in our Masters Sweep, great day all round! A wonderful round also by Brian Stephenson with a 78-12-66; Brian recently got fitted for a new XR16 driver from Callaway and Ryan made the decision to cut the length by 1", a choice which may have well paid dividends with 'Stivvis' golf. Jockey Wilson our resident reviewer also had the same score as Brian, well done Jockey! John Merrel had the best division 3 score, with 86-19-67, beating 2nd place Steven Fisher by a couple of shots. Top marks to Andy Elder for his 92 blows, his brother of chuckles Derek thrashed him by 12.
