First of all, can I all welcome you to Heysham without rain, snow, sleet and hail? This week has been dramatic in terms of the weather change and it has shown with the conditions out on the golf course; a fair few of our summer golfers have crept out of the woodwork as well. The good news from this weather is that this Sunday's first Captains' Qualifier will bring an end to Preferred Lies; however we will be enforcing a local rule on plugged balls for Sunday's event. Please check with our staff, or check the notice board for information on that rule. It has dried out that much I can only see a couple of areas where this may still happen. Excitingly this good weather has led to a completion of our Astroturf green in the new pitching arena, although it isn't open (Opening Day - Monday, 2 May) we have had a quick test on it and if you go to our Facebook page you can see a video on how the ball reacts when hitting the surface. Good luck to our usual crowd on their way to Wheatley this weekend in the away visit of their annual exchange match. For those who don't know it includes a load of golfers getting tanked up in Doncaster after a bit of golf and stumbling home. Any of you guys reading this over in the east then have a beer or two on me, jammy gits!
Clubfit Golf Local Business of the Week
AK Kitchens with Heysham member Adam Kilifin - AK Kitchens Ltd was established in 2008 by Adam Kilifin. Adam is an experienced joiner whose commitment to delivering quality results has taken the business from strength to strength.
With over 15 years' experience in the joinery trade Adam has spent the past 12 years developing his expertise in the specialist area of kitchen fitting. His experience spans across both domestic and commercial and includes experience of many well-known brands including; Howdens, Magnet, B&Q and Wickes. He has also installed quality kitchens for prestigious customers such as Newfield Jones, Gregor Shore, Sedden and Waine Homes across the North West of England.
He is supported in the business by a team which includes Craig Phillips (joiner and kitchen fitter) and Lindsay Kilifin (the numbers queen). He takes great pleasure in putting his knowledge and experience into practice to bring unique and high quality finishes to your kitchen. Dream Fourball - Tiger Woods, Seve (best shot make ever in my opinion) and Miguel Angel Jiminez (definitely not Clarke-o).
Favourite Player - Miguel Angel Jiminez.
Favourite Course - Victoria Course in Vilamoura, Portugal.
Favourite Golfing Memory - Best golfing memory, for me personally, is golfing every year in Portugal. Did I mention i won this year? Also an obvious one, the last Ryder Cup in America in 2012, 'the miracle at Medinah'.
A few words on Clubfit Golf - The winter lessons really help me out each year which I take with Ryan. I play off 13 so there's a lot of improvement to be made. It's very hard to practice with my work load but every time I'm on the range, Ryan and Trevor will always take some time and have a look at my swing. I've been measured up for clubs last year with Ryan and added a new Callaway driver to the bag this year, hopefully I will improve that 13 handicap.

Swing Lounge Winter League Finale
Our Swing Lounge Winter League comes to an end this Sunday Evening. If you need to get a round or two then you have the weekend to get yourself booked in. We are paying top eight positions in prizes and the League Table will be on our Facebook page today as we have some guys currently playing a round. The prizes are as follows:
First place - Titleist 915 driver per person.
Second place - Titleist Vokey wedge per person.
Third place - Course of lessons per person (One with Trevor, one with Ryan).
Fourth - TaylorMade Tour putter per person.
Fifth place - Free fourball for two hours in the Swing Lounge per person.
Sixth place - TaylorMade Tour Preferred dozen balls and glove per person.
Seventh place - Dozen Pro V1 balls per person.
Eighth place - Dozen Titleist TruSoft per person.
The presentation for the top eight will be on our Short Game Opening Day during the afternoon towards tea time. Thanks for all those that have entered, keep an eye out for our Summer Promotions and next winter the League will be back bigger, better and with new courses
Short Game Academy Opening Day - Monday, 2 May (Bank Holiday Monday)
You are all invited to our Short Game Opening Day from 11am next Monday, 2 May to help us celebrate in the opening of our new Short Game Academy. We will have plenty going on during the day including fun and games, a demo event and a short clinic from European Seniors' Tour winner Gary Wolstenholme. Our Lady Captain and Captain are also holding a Yorkshire vs. Lancashire grudge match available for not only members but members' guests at only £4 per person. Feel free to book through the shop.
All juniors are also invited to a special skills event from 9am before our Official Opening at 11am! You can then stay for a few drinks, take one of our challenges including a nearest the pin competition in the Swing Lounge and during the afternoon you can also test out some Vokey wedges and Scotty Cameron putters.

Titleist Vokey and Scotty Cameron Tour Experience
Titleist have come on board with Clubfit Golf to support our new Short Game Academy, so much so we will be using Titleist balls during practice and offering a wide range of demo equipment throughout the year for you to try. On Monday, 2 May from 12pm-3pm we will be holding a special Tour Fitting Event where you can be fitted for balls, wedges and the new Scotty Cameron range. We hope to see you on the day but if you fancy making a booking call us or pop in for a chat on the new range.
Spring Medal
Last Sunday was our first singles event of the year; the Spring Medal attracted 153 golfers and offered the perfect opportunity for golfers to test our their games after a Winter of hibernation.
Division 1 winner Adrian Lockhart pipped NR specialist Adam Hutchinson in a card play-off ,with a one-under round of 69. Dave Robinson was the best score overall in division 2, with a 76-11-65; I'm sure everyone has heard about it by now. Robbo also picked up £50 pro shop credit in our Masters Sweep, great day all round! A wonderful round also by Brian Stephenson with a 78-12-66; Brian recently got fitted for a new XR16 driver from Callaway and Ryan made the decision to cut the length by 1", a choice which may have well paid dividends with 'Stivvis' golf. Jockey Wilson our resident reviewer also had the same score as Brian, well done Jockey! John Merrel had the best division 3 score, with 86-19-67, beating 2nd place Steven Fisher by a couple of shots. Top marks to Andy Elder for his 92 blows, his brother of chuckles Derek thrashed him by 12.
Lounge Saturday Morning Offer Calling All Under 18s!
If you fancy a bit of Saturday Morning golf to kick start your weekend and find the course is busy, you can get a few holes in, in The Swing Lounge. If you book a Saturday morning slot through the shop we are offering 9 holes for £5 per person. Minimum booking per 9 holes is 3 people. Parents can play along to and pay the same! Available between 9am-12pm.

These British designed sunglasses are on display on our front desk, so come and check them out, feel free to try a pair or two on.
This Sunday we are also launching our Pro's Raffle which will be held every singles event during the summer season. The premise is simple, with your £3 entry fee you have the options to pay twos, this will increase to £2 with £1 going in the two's pot and £1 going into a separate pot. That full pot will be split into a top three prize fund and the randomly drawn top three will get their winnings placed on to their accounts. Take the gamble and you could be rewarded handsomely! You can still enter twos as normal at £1 per person.
