Last week I highlighted an important drill to help people combat their chipping woes and if you fancy going one further you could enter our short game masterclass next Wednesday, 29 June. From 4pm myself and Ryan will be going through some important parts of the short game including shot selection, chipping creativity and imagination, practicing techniques and much more. Throughout the session we will also be helping YOU with your own individual techniques. We have two slots available, so if anyone would like one of these last two slots please click here or give us a call on 01524 852000.
As well as coaching clinics Heysham Golf Club likes to cater for the social side and we are doing just that with our Casino night NEXT Saturday, 2 July. For £10 (including a Prosecco on entry) you can try your hand at roulette, blackjack and poker with a few other fun and games to go with. On the night we will draw a special raffle including ferry tickets to Belfast and the Isle of Man; plus plenty of other amazing prizes! Tickets are available in the pro shop or behind the bar. If you're unsure of your plans that Saturday we will welcome late entries on the night, you just miss out on the Prosecco, sorry!
In other news, we are now sponsors of our local cricket team, Heysham Cricket Club. Good luck to the team for the rest of the season.

Congratulations to John Wilding for an ace in the Fifth Medal Wednesday. John has improved his golf this year and at a young age could feature in the Clayton Trophy held this year at Heysham. His dad Adrian might have taken a deep breath when he realised the clubhouse was packed!
Speaking of the Fifth Medal, head over to our Facebook page where you can check out my medal report on how proceedings went down. Congratulations however to division winners Lee Brady, Ron Robinson and Graham Sheedy. Some great scoring as well from the returning Rob Smith after his broken leg, a 68 gross, the lowest of the day.
More congratulations to our US Open draw winner Chris Donaldson. He bagged a limited edition Callaway tour bag for picking eventual winner Dustin Johnson out the hat. His controversial win was enough to sneak past Shane Lowry, Jim Furyk and Scott Piercy. They were picked by Ronnie Webster, Terry Hoare and Alf Croston, we split the top two prizes so each could receive a dozen balls. Jan Savage and Liam Kilifin picked up a dozen balls also for their best amateur and last place picks.

Learn to play Golf in a Day - Saturday, 9 July (10am - 4pm)
Ryan and I will take you through a day of coaching to help introduce you to the game of golf; or bring the memories flooding back if you are thinking of taking up the game again. The day will consist of learning the basics of the long game, putting, chipping and pitching culminating in a fun skills competition. To keep the energy levels high we will break for some lunch which is included in the price. This day is fairly hands on so we will only have six - eight spaces available, so please get booked in quickly. We will provide equipment and feel free to bring friends or family to come along and watch to make you feel at ease. The cost of the session is £49 including lunch.
Coaching News
This week was a jam packed frenzy of coaching with so many different aspects covered, age ranges met and amazing experiences had by all. On Monday I visited Carnforth North Road School for the opening day of their sports week. From 9am - 3pm I coached five groups of over 30 kids from reception through to year six, covering the whole school. Hopefully these youngsters find a future in golf as the sport battles with others to gain ground in a landscape of diminishing participation figures. I then did the same at Yealand Primary School Thursday afternoon, taking an after-school class through their paces. Myself and Ryan coach in schools, with the aim of bringing youngsters into sport and eventually helping them find a pathway to Heysham Golf Club. If you would like your school involved in Golf, let your Headteacher know or contact us directly.
On Tuesday evening Ryan and I took our eight newbies on to the chipping green for the first time in our third 'Get into Golf' session. A thoroughly enjoyable experience especially the great blend of men, ladies and children we have in these sessions. To see a few chip-ins makes the long days worthwhile!
Ryan has been busy (as usual) throughout the week including Wednesday when he had quite a few putting sessions. The short game is key and Ryan knows his way around the flat stick. One particular gentleman traveling from Pleasington also had a putter fitting, testing his stroke out against various models, sizes and shapes. He ended up with a beautiful Scotty Cameron Go Lo 3 model which is now on order fitted to his putting style. His putter will be adjusted to 34, 1/2" and 2 deg flat; not just irons are adjusted for length and lie ya know! To get booked in for lessons, fittings and much more, or pick up one of our new lesson leaflets then pop into the shop or contact us through one of our various Social Media channels.

A popular summer shirt choice recently has been our Callaway Clothing collection deal of two for £50. High quality shirts, that don't need ironing and last for what seems to be billions of years. But it is the rain which some times captivates our audience in the damp climate we live in. So that is why I have placed on sale some wet weather clothing giving you the chance of replacing those dodgy rain pants or bagging a new waterproof suit with warranty for just £55.
Mrs D's Deal of the Week
Mrs D is loving her Puma clothing at the moment after a visit to Puma with myself yesterday to see clothing for summer 2017.
That is why we are offering 'Buy one get one HALF PRICE on all Puma shirts (this weekend only).
