Hello golfers,
Yesterday you may have seen HGC on North West Tonight as the news team visited to interview Jack ahead of his historic trip to Royal Troon next week. Jack was interviewed along with Ryan on his thoughts at his maiden appearance in the Open.
We also see a cameo from Ashton Ward and Rob Smith. An interesting stat is that Ashton is 0/1 for putts made on TV, where as Rob looked like he'd been on the booze all night. Focusing back on Jack, it was great to see him on TV even if his coach did refer to his younger person as a 'Snotty little kid', nevertheless these 2 guys have both worked incredibly hard so it is a pleasure to see them where they are currently at.
If you missed it, get on BBC iPlayer to check out your club in the news and have a laugh at Ashton's missed putt...

It has now been announced that the club will be introducing new Caterers in the future to replace the current team. In the meantime the halfway house will have interim hosts in Tony & Deb. So far the feedback has been good and they will be open this Sunday again for our Pro's day 9am-4pm with a selection of hot and cold foods.
Congratulations to Harvey and Louis Talarczyk (pictured here) for winning the English Schools Team Championship at the Bracken Course, Woodhall Spa. Louis and Harvey regularly visit Heysham for lessons and are members at Blackpool North Shore and Royal Lytham, and both represent Lancashire.
Another congratulations to HGC member John Wilding has been selected to represent Lancashire schools in the national U16 championships at John O' Gaunt Golf Club in Bedfordshire starting Monday 18th July. He then goes straight to Lanark to play in the Scottish Boys Championship meaning a hellish week of driving for Mrs Wilding! Good Luck John.
Another well done to Kev Greig, giving him special mention for yesterday's 8th Medal in which he won the first division. What makes it special is Kev shot a level par 70 off a handicap of 10, amazing result and I believe also included a double bogey at the 10th. Well done Sniggers!
Good luck to our Seniors Team who take part in the triangular Seniors Trophy tomorrow against Lancaster and Morecambe. The event being held at Morecambe GC will see our boys in blue try and keep hold of the trophy, the team includes: Pete Hampsey, Ray Adams, Terry Hoare, Mick Croft, Mal Humpage, Steve Patten and reserve Rick Kirkman!

Focus On Coaching
Coaching should well and truly be in the spotlight this week as a lifelong member of Heysham has qualified for the British Open having had countless lessons over the years. A good time to have a lesson is often when you are playing well, something Jack has always done even when he is having a break from competing round Europe. Our team is always available to offer advice when needed and keen to help golfers progress just as our Jack has done throughout the years.
Take Alex for example, who I gave a lesson to on Wednesday a couple of week after his first ever lesson. Alex is relatively new to the game and is starting to take it seriously, aiming to get a handicap in before the summer ends.
Just one lesson and you can see the improvement in Alex' swing in these before and after pictures. We are flattening his backswing, keeping it shorter and more compact allowing for a slower and more controllable rhythm. It won't be long before those pulls and slices become powering draws and I can't wait to see it happen.
Click here and get yourself booked in for a lesson now and see your swing up in lights.
Is it the 'Big Three' or the 'Big Four'?
Just when you thought Jason Day, Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy were all set to divvy up golf's biggest prizes, along comes big-hitting Dustin Johnson. The US champion is now number two in the world and looks to be finally fulfilling his potential after another fine win at the weekend - and a big one too at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. For years Johnson seemed destined to be the bridesmaid, now he's one of the favourites to go back-to-back in Majors and take the Claret Jug back across the Atlantic.
Next week's Open at Royal Troon could be a classic
Which leads us on to a new section of our website - our regular poll, and we want your votes. Tell us who you think will win the Open Championship next week; will it be Day, Johnson, Spieth, McIlroy or A.N. Other?
