Heysham officially has new caterers after the recent departure of Jim Lively Catering and some of his team. Please can everyone welcome Julie and Anthony Robinson who are now underway in their new positions as the HGC Catering team and on behalf of Clubfit Golf we wish them all the success in the world, lucky for them there isn't too much to follow. It is my understanding the team will stick to the current menu before adding their touch to HGC and I'm sure as our great members do, you will offer your support and business to them. They will undergo their first big event when the annual Summer Ball kicks off on Saturday, 30 July, more on that later. Can we also thank Tony and Deb for bringing a bit of normality and professionalism to Heysham once again in their interim running of the halfway house, it didn't go unnoticed and it made our lives easier in the shop. The new catering department will undertake the reigns of the halfway house, let's hope they carry on its recent revival!
In other news we are fresh from our trip to Troon and ready to pass on some more tips on helping your game, that is why myself and Ryan have introduced another short game masterclass to help YOU drop shots off your handicap. Check out our upcoming events on how you can learn some short game tips from the maestros, the last event was well attended and very popular.
Ladies, I won't forget your games, that is why I am holding a four week crash course in short game practice starting in August, read more on that shortly on how you can sign up to this exclusive event.

As always we are very proud of our junior section at Heysham Golf Club and again it is our pleasure to announce a couple of our youngsters will start for Lancashire Boys against Yorkshire next Monday. John Wilding and Lucas Done will feature in a mixed age groups match at Abbeydale Golf Club. Another name on the list is Blackpool North Shore member Louis Talarczyk, Louis regularly comes for lessons with Ryan and has a very bright future in the game.
Congratulations to our very own Mrs D, who, along with Kev Greig captured the Jack Toulmin Trophy last Saturday in spectacular fashion. The duo scored an impressive 75 gross in a greensomes format leaving them with an unbeatable 62.4 nett, not bad considering Linda was left alone all last week whilst me and Ryan had the time of our lives...
Summer Ball - Saturday, 30 July
Come on down to dance to the popular, and back by demand, High Dynamics. Tickets are £22.50 including a complimentary drink of fizz on arrival. This event will mark the first of our new catering team, so the food included will be top notch. The dress code is jacket and tie and the event begins at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.

Short Game Masterclass - Saturday, 20 August (11am - 2pm)
The short game is neglected, never will I hear the words, 'my chipping is awesome'. It just doesn't happen. We want to change that with our Short Game Masterclass event, the first of many helping you achieve results and to learn HOW to practice your short game. We have the facilities, now you need the skills. Full details are as follows:
The event is open to 8 - 10 people
Aimed at golfers of all abilities wanting to improve their short game
Will cover techniques on chipping, putting and short pitches
Will cover practice techniques, variable practice and how to get better

Ladies Short Game Crash Course
Calling all ladies... do you want to improve your short game and learn more about the keys to lowering your handicap? Starting Thursday, 18 August I will be running a four week course covering the areas of the short game on our new areas. Full details are as follows:
Open to six lucky ladies (first come first served)
Times will be from 6pm - 7pm
We will cover short chips, pitches, lob shots and key practice routines
Only £20 per person for four sessions

Jack Senior Latest
Fresh from his exciting week in Scotland, Jack will be back on Challenge Tour duty this week as he travels south to France to take part in the La Vaudereuil Golf Challenge. The tournament starts Thursday and Jack is in good spirits despite a course that doesn't quite suit the big man. Speaking with Jack on Monday, he has stated his desire to work on his golf swing in the coming weeks to try find some consistency as we head into the middle of the Challenge Tour season.
