The Blenkinsop Token was held at Lancaster Golf Club last Saturday pitting Heysham against local rivals Morecambe and hosts Lancaster. This was the 62nd year this was held since Stanley Blenkinsop started the junior event in the 1950's. Heysham have held the title both of the last couple of years, unfortunately for the boys in blue, they couldn't quite manage it this time around. The winners on the day were Morecambe comfortably edging past Lancaster and Heysham with some steady scoring. The good news for our boys is strength in depth, with some youngsters coming through the academy with enough ability to be in a Heysham side for years to come. 2016 was Morecambe's year, on paper they had the strongest side and they delivered, well done to the seaside club for the win and hopefully Heysham can grab the title back at home next year. We were very proud of our team, especially Ryan and Linda with their three boys featuring in the side, but as Professionals it gives us great pleasure to bring these juniors through from a young age and we can't wait for the next few years! A few mentions on behalf of of the team to Ryan, Linda, Lady Captain and the Captain for their work with the team and making the run up to the event feel special, oh and the pizzas on Friday night.

In other club news, the driving range is back open (hooray). However, please note since then we have had a few issues with the motor that vibrates the balls down the shoot to the tipper, this should be sorted fairly easily but please be aware the range may close early over the next night or two.

Members' News

This weekend is our last Medal of the season, the last chance to qualify for our Medal Finals event the week after, but in a double whammy, we also have our Finals Day on Sunday. All them pesky matchplay events you've been battling in all year come to a close on Sunday, the course will be closed for some parts of the day so please check your BRS or give me a call. The big Finals are the Captain's and President's Prize, both 36-hole events, marathon singles titles that only the best can win. Feel free to venture round the course to have a watch and cheer on your mates!

In the penultimate medal we had Mitchell Wilson win Division One, with Ryan Grimshaw just behind with a solid 69 gross. In Division Two Rob Mitchell sneaked past Craig Woodrow and Division Three was won by Dave Holland. Well done guys, we will see you in the Medal Finals. On Monday the annual Celts vs. England match was held, of which I am not sure of many details other than the Celts won. Well done to all that took part in that fun event!

Short Game Masterclass Part Three - Saturday, 1 October (10am - 1pm)

Join us again for another Short Game Masterclass with hosts Ryan Done and Trevor Newsham. On the day you will have three hours with the area's best coaches learning about all parts of the short-game in a fun, information filled morning. Details are as follows:

Morecambe Bay Festival 2016 - Monday, 12 September - Friday, 16 September

We have just released so more tee times for the Morecambe Bay a Golf Festival at Lancaster and Morecambe. We have tee times available on Monday, 12 September and Wednesday, 14 September in the morning. This is a team event with a prize fund on the day of £1040. The top six teams will win a prize.

Custom Fitting Special - The New Callaway Steelhead Iron

Introducing the NEW Callaway Steelhead XR iron, blending the popular XR iron released in 2015 with the old trusty Callaway name and new technology. These clubs are long, but offer forgiveness with Callaway's face up allowing for maximum forgiveness and superb feel. Callaway has modified the CG in each head to position it in the right place for forgiveness and launch. In the long irons it is lower down and in the short irons it is higher up to reflect the impact positions on the face. This is achieved by a 'Snubber', which is a piece of steel infused polyurethane between the body and the face, shown in red, that lowers the CG and absorbs unwanted vibrations at impact to help the sound and feel.
