This coming Sunday is our Medal Finals, the one day climax to 14 Medals pitting the winner of each one against one another. Who will finish on top? This brings to a close the Medal season, but fear not as we still have plenty to play for throughout September and October. Next we are in for a busy week as the Bay Festival rolls into town, remember our members could have a chance to play Morecambe or Lancaster on days where we have an event. Linda and Ryan have been away supporting the Bear this week in Ireland, more on his game later as well as a look at the new Titleist 917 range. Also, we are starting recruiting early for our amazing Swing Lounge Winter League, new courses and new additions, more on that in this week's newsletter!
Members' News
First of all can we send our best wishes to Paul Hodgson who unfortunately fell foul of bad luck last week on our Finals Day during his President's Final match versus Matt Lynch. Paul stumbled in a grass bunker and soon found out he would be unable to carry on. After a visit to the hospital I believe Paul then found out he had chipped a bone in his ankle, poor sod couldn't carry the match on so the winner was Matty. Below are the other results from our Finals Day, well done to all the winners and we look forward to presenting all you victors with your trophies in the near future. Speaking of trophies, well done to Lancaster ladies for victory in the Coronation Shield. I haven't been informed of the scores, but I managed to grab a picture of the Lancaster celebrations from their Twitter page. Results from Finals Day were as follows:

The Swing Lounge Winter League is back!
I am excited to say our Swing Lounge Winter League is back, bigger and better than last year! The league will start from Tuesday, 1 November, below are a few points of what to expect including a new fourball betterball format and the top four entering a play-off (like the footy) on our Finals Weekend in March. Titleist are on board and we will have many new great prizes. Details are as follows:
New courses including Celtic Manor and Royal Aberdeen.
10 courses in total to be completed (9 Holes).
League format culminating in a Matchplay Play-off Weekend and Final.
Format will be Fourball Betterball with a Russian Stableford last event.
Maximum handicaps will apply.
Titleist sponsored event with top 10 receiving prizes plus a highest ladies and mixed prize.
The Winter League will end on the first weekend in March 2017.
Play will be any time excluding Wed, Fri and Sat nights.
Pairs format with no exchanging of players.

Join us again for another Short Game Masterclass with hosts Ryan Done and Trevor Newsham. On the day you will have three hours with the area's best coaches learning about all parts of the short-game in a fun, information filled morning. Details are as follows:

Jack Senior Latest
Jack was in France last week where he kept a mini-run going of making some cuts to boost his confidence, hopefully getting him higher up the Challenge Tour rankings. Having spoke to Jack this week he spoke about the course last week as being a bit short and fiddly, not using driver much thus taking away a strong part of Jack's game. But a session with Ryan on Monday left Jack feeling confident, if you see the picture of one of his drives you can see his long game is strong. That takes him into this week in Ireland, about 60 miles outside Dublin and with familiar faces watching him from the sidelines. Ryan and Linda, along with Carl Sadler and Nick Lamb (plus wags) have gone to cheer him along, and drink Guinness, would you expect any less? Jack has been very strong in his practice and tees off at 1:40pm as I write this. New arrivals...
It's all about the custom fitting baby! Callaway have launched the new Big Bertha OS iron, a follow on from the popular 2014-2016 Big Bertha iron, a strong game improvement iron with ridiculous distance. Yesterday we received our full fitting kit, heads and shafts, ready to kit you guys out with this new and improved iron. The iron with new technology, including what Callaway is calling the 'exo-cage' offers speed across more of the face. Tungsten in the sole, meanwhile, lowers the center of gravity to foster a higher launch in the long irons. Because the irons are incredibly strong lofted, this is key and the offer of more speed across the face means you are likely to still hit that 6-iron a good distance with an ugly toe strike. These game improvement irons offer a higher launch to help the mid-higher handicapper get them longer irons airborne, but a lower CG in the short irons where most players need less help. There will be an accompanying hybrid, adjustable and available for fitting here at Clubfit Golf. These will carry a higher end price tag, so if you fancy a demo first before an in depth fitting, let us know!
Titleist 917 range
Yesterday I also witnessed the new Titleist 917 drivers and fairways due for launch later this month. At Clubfit Golf we will be one of the first in the country with these new (may I say awesome) clubs, and you could be one of the first to have one in the bag. These drivers have changed from the 915 model, Titleist only replace their line every two years giving their R&D department a long time to fine tune the important aspects of a modern driver. The surefit hosel (if you're Titleist familiar) stays, giving you a chance to adjust loft and lie (uniquely one doesn't affect the other with Titleist) and a new CG weight added to the head. This weight is positioned to alter the club's CG, offering more weight towards the toe or heel, or less or more weight in the head to alter swing weight. Titleist as always offer four stock shafts, plus many extra as custom and two head types for the driver and fairways, offering different spin rates and head shapes. I could go on, but if you would like to know more Google 917 drivers to find out more. This driver will be in the premium range, but with a longer lifecycle and arguably being the best, most fitting friendly driver on the market, it has it's appeal.
