If your names are not down for the Men's Prize Giving next Friday, 4 November, I need to ask why? You may miss out on an explosive, fun night, with great food, laughs, beer and more laughs. If you haven't got a table, enquire with myself or stick one down on the notice board in the men's locker room, or if you're on your own then let me know and I can find you a seat. The night will include a beautiful three course meal courtesy of our catering department as well as a FREE drink from the bar, all for £17. I look forward to seeing you all there! The club is having a bit of much needed work doing on the clubhouse roof, so please be careful when around the front putting green and avoid the scaffolding that is currently in place. For all those wondering, it is now preferred lies through the green, but don't let that stop you getting out onto the golf course, it is doing pretty well and for non-members you can play mid-week for just £20.
We have a bit of an update on Jack Senior coming up, information on how to get the best out of your game this winter and a reminder on entering our Swing Lounge Winter League, which will be featuring a £2,000 prize fund, a new betterball format (replacing Russian stableford) and a host of new courses. "Bandits" was the cry heard along the HGC grapevine this week as Brian Stephenson and John Dobson blew the field away with a 48 point betterball score last Sunday in the Captain's and President's Winter League Challenge. The event pits Stuart and Phil against the rest of the field in a race to the mountain of booze available to all that prosper... beat the Captain and President's score and win some booze. Commendable effort from the boys in blue as 42 points was the score to beat, so not many managed, but for those that did, a bottle of booze was the prize. If you haven't collected yours, please see the competitions office.
Elsewhere we held our first Winter Open of our series of six, you can enter online for our next one on Friday, 18 November via the club website (click here to visit). Congratulations to the winners S. Wilson and I. Alpin. Full results can be found on our Facebook page or the Golf Club website.
The subs are due so now is the perfect time to join Heysham. However, if full membership isn't for you, why not take out our short game year pass? This area was used on Saturday where Ryan and Linda organised a North Lancashire skills competition with 40 kids taking part including kids from neighbouring golf clubs.

The Swing Lounge Winter League is back!
I am excited to say our Swing Lounge Winter League is back, bigger and better than last year! The league will start from Tuesday, 1 November, below are a few points of what to expect including a new fourball betterball format and the top four entering a play-off (like the footy) on our Finals Weekend in March. Titleist are on board and we will have many great prizes. Details are as follows:
New courses including Celtic Manor and Royal Aberdeen.
10 courses in total to be completed (9 holes).
League format culminating in a Matchplay Play-off Weekend and Final.
Format will be Fourball Betterball with a Russian Stableford last event.
Maximum handicaps will apply.
Titleist sponsored event with top 10 receiving prizes plus a highest ladies and mixed prize.
The Winter League will end on the first weekend in March 2017.
Play will be any time excluding Wed, Fri and Sat nights.
Pairs format with no exchanging of players.

Jack Senior
Jack is an official jet setter, shaking off the trip to China he is now in Dubai this week for the Ras Al Khaimah Challenge, a big event with an impressive prize fund. Jack must finish high up to sneak into the top 45 giving him a spot in Oman for the season ending event on the Challenge Tour. He is guaranteed his card for next year and at 55 on the money list it leaves him probably too much to get to Oman, a top five finish will be about the only thing to get him a spot. Starting today Jack has finished with a level par 72, giving him an uphill battle. Unfortunately, a quadruple bogey cost him a positive score for round one, although as seen in China where Jack had 24 birdies in four rounds, he is capable of low numbers. Last week Jack picked up 7,233 euros in a week where he finished T13th, it could have been better but in recent weeks he has played well and don't forget a trip to tour school could still see him gain a full tour card. Come on Jack!
