It's not often I do, but this last week I had to work a Sunday and as usual the morning did not disappoint. For starters we had one member who managed to be sick in his bed the night before, rolling in to play Winter League after a few hours kip is an accomplishment and one I am familiar with. The poor lad was probably in the doghouse, but he did make it to the golf course unlike one member who was kept captive by the wife, unable to play due to already being golfed out from the weekend before. We all experience it, some of us will pretend we wear the pants, but it does happen to the best of us, just ask Adrian Lockhart who was dragged to Paris by his girlfriend. I think dragging your golfer to another country is a bit too far, Adrian did however get to go to Disneyland, so maybe not all is lost.
As we do edge towards Christmas, it's worth giving your loved ones a nudge, or just come in and treat yourself as we have plenty on offer, plenty of choice and plenty of Christmas cheer. It may be worth noting Friday morning could be a sore one as we are out with all other golf club staff members on our Christmas party; Morecambe beware. Last week's Winter League winners were actually the un-fancied odd ball team, one of them still in his shorts from summer, but still they won by a couple with 82 points. Brian Stephenson, Jim Miller, Josh Corless and Ken Relph knocking fellow syndicatees Carl Sadler, Anthony Palmer, Greg Anderson and Teg Roberts into second place. An interesting team of Lee Miles, Mick Cannon, Hywell Williams and Rick Kirkman came third and Lee Tomlinson, Scott Lee, Alan Hewitson and Shaun Hughes finished last in the prices in fourth. Doubles this Sunday as we lose yet more light, any stories from your Winter League matches then please let me know. Course Update
A big thanks to all the members who have been helping look after the course this past few weeks, the better weather as meant better conditions under foot giving us the opportunity to keep the buggies on. Unfortunately Nico Rosberg was on this Sunday morning doing donuts on the 18th looking for a ball, I wonder if this former prison officer should be locked up for these driving crimes. I will chat to Dave continuously over the next few weeks and keep you all updated as much as possible.
