We had another full start sheet for our Winter Open on Saturday, with nice sunny weather provided free of charge. Winners, with a score of 45 points, were M. Mortimer and R. Neville of Accrington GC. Full details of other scores and twos can be found on our Facebook page or our website (click here to view).

"Did Mal Savage buy the chips again this week?" is the question on everyone's lips. Paired with Dan Weatherill, Mal managed to escape the chip buying this week with Arnie Duckworth and Keith Gardner given the honour. Keith however, was the only person in that syndicate to have a two, two being the same number of shanks from Nick Lamb.
Winter League winners, with a respectable 42 points for 16 holes, were Richard Gardner and Kevin Greig. Full competition results can be viewed on our master scoreboard or on the locker room noticeboard.
Members' AGM - Monday, 13 February
All full members of Heysham Golf Club are invited to attend the AGM. This is your opportunity to make any proposals for the future of Heysham Golf Club and to vote for candidates seeking a post as a Club Director.
Gent's Annual Dinner - Friday, 17 February
Welcome your new Captain Paul Rogerson into office in his first official function as 2017 Captain. Enjoy a three course meal from our amazing Catering team at Heysham Golf Club, sink it down with a few (20) pints and have a good laugh with fellow members. Your support and good humour is welcome to this evening.
Tickets are £18 per person. You can sign-up yourself on the list situated on the snooker room noticeboard. Dress code will be black tie for the evening.
Course Update
This week the greenstaff have been busy planting 20 new trees. Photo one shows the new trees planted between the 6th and the 12th hole and photo two shows the 15th hole where the willows have been thinned out and replaced by standard trees.
A Word from the Coach
As you all read up on articles from the manufactures saying how good their latest products perform, the only way to really find out is to try them for yourself. Please get yourself booked in for a fitting as the new products arrive in the Fitting Studio. I'm not brand orientated and just want you to be playing what's best for you. With the technology of the FlightScope launch monitor we can see what's working best and have all the available products to try within your budget. The fitting carts have got more or less every option available to suit your game. You can't try or see the performance of a product whilst browsing online stores. What product suits you? Consider this carefully when thinking of spending your hard earned money. Try it, see it fly, then buy it. Don't make the mistake of "oh that's cheap, I'll get that one!"

The Focus Head Band to help your mental approach and focus when playing.
The Sam Putting Station that gives you clear data and analysis on your putting stroke.This will help improve your technique, and correct your tendencies and also guides you to which styles of putter will suit your needs.
Throughout March, April and May, Trevor and myself will be holding clinics. These will be two hour sessions in the evenings in which you can try out and learn new techniques, practice drills and test all the latest equipment, so watch out next week where I'll post up the dates. Previous sessions have filled up very quickly. I'm currently reading up on all this latest software as I'm still laid up recovering from my op. Thanks everyone for all the well wishes and "banter" I've received. I'm hopefully on the road to recovery as the pain is easing slowly, but I'm still unable to stand/walk without my crutches.
Mrs. D has been looking after me, running the shop, the Swing Lounge and then trying to look after the other four lads (Blue included) at home. Plus Trevor is having a well deserved week off enjoying a holiday with his family.
Thanks to all the guys who have helped collect and retrieve the balls on the range. With it being so wet, the collector can't get to certain parts of the range, so cheers fellas. Hopefully people might realise how laborious a task this is, normally I do this on a daily basis to help keep it open. If anyone has any ideas on how best to drain and raise funds to help combat this problem, please let us know as it seems the winters are getting worse and we don't want to keep closing the driving range.

New Arrivals
We have got some awesome new equipment arriving as we speak at Clubfit Golf, for the shop and our Fitting Studio with Cobra, PING,Titleist and Callaway to name just a few.
Cobra have released the new F7 series of drivers and irons and the much talked about "one length series iron". The unique F7 driver with its Cobra connect technology, tracks/measures your drives straight to your smartphone out on the course giving you instant feedback on fairways hit, distances etc. Awesome, and all this at a £279 price point.
Pictured is the new i200 and Blade option in the PING range for 2017, beautiful looking clubs, with all the help and forgiveness of a cavity iron, but with the feel and control of a "blade" so when people say "it's too good/hard for me to use, now you can".
