I am back... I typed that with a resounding sigh! I joke as I am looking forward to what's ahead for the new season. Ryan has been fiddling with our new toys of which I am looking forward to using, in fact we have already organised some special coaching dates for you which you are available to sign-up for from today! Read on for a word with Ryan, where he will introduce the dates and how you can sign-up. Speaking of which... Night Golf is back! For those who haven't taken part in this cool evening, now is your chance; for the regulars I hope you will continue to support this event, read on to find out how it works and how you can become a part of it.
You may see the shop looking a bit like this over the next few weeks as we get plenty of new stock in for the 2017 season, pop down to our shop news to see what has arrived and how our January Sale is continuing into February. In fact, we are going to have an End of Sale Sale! Friday, 10 February - Sunday, 12 February will see our sale come to a close, but this last weekend will see our lowest prices yet. All clothing in store will be reduced by up to 60% including many items at less than cost price. We will also be offering a 'Make An Offer' promotion on our remaining 2016 sale clubs, wedges and putters; plus the last few bags and shoes left in our sale will be cut to HALF PRICE. Look out for our promotion posters and see how you could win more for your money by playing our 'Pop a Balloon' game; more on that in shop news.
The course was closed this past Sunday and therefore we have no winter league results, so I can't take the mickey out of any members. Instead read on next to find out what Night Golf is all about. Enjoy!
Night Golf - Friday, 3 March
How it works - Night Golf is an amazing concept giving you the surreal experience of playing golf in full darkness. Armed with glow in the dark golf balls you will play five holes in total darkness, navigating your way round with the help of LED lights placed strategically down the sides of fairways, hazards, round the green and most importantly, the hole. The night is a blast, complete with boozey additions from the bar, drinks offers and a chance to increase your handicap with some pre-drinks. We have plenty more in store for the evening, the sign-up sheet will be going up on the snooker room notice board shortly. Full details are as follows:
£25 per person includes your supper and money into the prize fund.
Single stableford format.
Plus a team prize (based on numbers).
Tee times from 6.20pm.
Singles, pairs and fourballs welcome. Members, juniors and non-members welcome.

Members' AGM - Monday, 13 February
All full members of Heysham Golf Club are invited to attend the AGM. This is your opportunity to make any proposals for the future of Heysham Golf Club and to vote for candidates seeking a post as a Club Director.
Gent's Annual Dinner - Friday, 17 February
Welcome your new Captain Paul Rogerson into office in his first official function as 2017 Captain. Enjoy a three course meal from our amazing Catering team at Heysham Golf Club, sink it down with a few (20) pints and have a good laugh with fellow members. Your support and good humour is welcome to this evening.
Tickets are £18 per person. You can sign-up yourself on the list situated on the snooker room noticeboard. Dress code will be black tie for the evening.

A Word from the Coach
I hope everyone is well after the disappointing weekend of weather we suffered through, giving us our first cancelled Winter League of the season. This weekend could be the same with the forecast showing Storm Doris is coming our way in the next few days, maybe plan ahead and get booked in the Swing Lounge for a bit of fun, plus my favourite... a few beers. However, please spare a thought for Linda who will be running the Mad Dog 10k in Southport this Sunday, her first proper run out since she started training. The name 'Mad Dog' is very apt for Linda, since she's mad enough to go to boot camp on the promenade three times a week at 6:00am. Please join me in wishing Linda luck for her big 10k!
Once again I would like to thank everyone for their well wishes, visits and calls during my recovery. I am making great progress and in roughly three weeks' time I should be back up to speed, back coaching and sorting out your golf games for the 2017 season. We have loads of new fitting kit arriving that I am excited to get my hands on. Speaking of kit, I have been testing out our SAM Putt Lab, something you will be seeing a lot of this season. Speaking of which we will be running plenty of putting nights and short game masterclasses during the year. The dates for spring are below and you can sign-up from now for any of the sessions.

Putting Evenings will have two sessions. Session one will be at 5:00pm and session two at 7:00pm. Limited to eight people per session. The cost will be £15 per person.

Short Game Masterclasses are three hours long. Times may vary, but will be based on 11:00am - 2:00pm. The class will include tuition from Ryan and Trevor as well as introducing SAM Putt Lab. The cost will be £25 per person. We will cover most aspects of the short game, answer questions and send you away with detailed information on your game. Sign-up today for any of the above dates. I caught up with Jack this week as he starts to do a bit of light practice ready for the season ahead. Whilst Jack is having a bit of time off competitively, he has still been keeping fit in the gym and nursing his thumb injury.
