Tomorrow is our annual Lunesdale League Away Trip, this year to a local course Preston in a change from the previous two years at Carlisle. The ever popular trip is now in roughly its 13th year I believe (I may be wrong) and is famous for its 'bus' ride taken at the end of the day with the trip's losers. The money this year will be on Rob Smith's fourball, featuring Clark Stanley-Jones, limping around with one knee and Tony Hurst who may struggle. Unluckily the other member Tim will be playing with borrowed clubs after having his car broken into with Captain Rob fresh off two NR's; my money is on them. No doubt you can find out next week our winners and losers of this event.
In other news this past week we held a Lancashire squad short game day featuring many players from all of Lancashire's squads, including boys right through to the full men's and seniors' teams. This day was set up by Ryan, a lot of work went into it from himself and Phil at Lancashire and was a huge success. The course was in perfect condition and the facilities were raved about by some of the best players in the county. Tour Player Matt Nixon and our very own Jack Senior joined the groups to give tips on the course and hopefully this will be the start of something here at Heysham on our award winning facilities. Last Sunday was our first President's Qualifier played in relatively testing conditions when you look at the scores with the top 16 qualifying for the matchplay rounds with 72 being the cut off mark. Top score of the day was a great one for us considering the guy has just splashed out on some new clubs, being fitted for some Cobra irons and woods. Liam Doherty producing a superb 86 - 20 = 66 after literally peeling off the wrappers in the shop before he played. Fitted clubs do the business!
A big congratulations to Phil Grainger, he was the winner of Heysham Golf Club's 'Car Park Space' draw, winning a space directly outside the front door for next year. The big Yorkshireman was probably pleased he could save fuel instead of lapping round the car park every time he's up. Top man Phil!!

Introducing Paul Woodhouse
Paul is currently finishing year two of his PGA studies and will start year three this October. After working at Lancaster Golf Club with David Sutcliffe, Paul has developed a keen eye for coaching and was popular with the youngsters in the Lancaster area. Here's a little about the guy...

Short Game Area Update
Look at that gorgeous short game area! Now it has got even better with the introduction of our new drop of balls provided by Titleist. Our new tubes are filled with Pro V1s and Pro V1x's so you can enjoy your short game practice. Strict rules will now be in place. All users MUST provide a members' card, bank card or £20 deposit when collecting a tube. All balls must be brought back, any missing or substituted will require a £2 charge. Tubes being used past 6pm must be collected from the bar. All members get this service and area for FREE. Non-Members can use our short game area for just £5 per day.
