Hello golfers,
June is a busy month at Heysham as we get into the thick of things during our summer season of golf; that's why this newsletter is mostly dedicated to upcoming competitions, events and coaching clinics. The whole of June will lead up to our July 1st Centenary Pro-AM-AM, an event running since 2010 and one I very much love playing in.
The concept of this event is to give all our members, whatever your category, a chance to play with different people including Professionals connected to our club and low amateurs. You could be lucky enough to be drawn with such celebrities as myself, as I will be one of those Professionals taking part in the 36 hole event.

We also have a couple of Open events taking place in June, as well as a popular Captains social event plus your usual weekend competitions, making it a very busy month. Don't forget as well you can hone your short game with myself and Ryan in our upcoming coaching events, including our popular Short Game Masterclass coming Saturday 17th June.
In our local community we have also been supporting our local sports teams. Pictured is myself and Ryan at Heysham Cricket Club where we are proud to offer our sponsorship and support to their teams. Speaking of community, me and Ryan ran a successful golf festival at Salt Ayre last week, with over 90 children taking part from primary schools in the local area. In fact over 1000 children took part in sports across the whole day, in the blistering sun so the poor boys & girls were knackered, but throughly enjoyed themselves! This is a part of our local initiative of going into schools and offering Tri-Golf to the community!
Lancashire County Championship
Some of our members will be playing in the Lancashire County Championship this weekend at Lancaster Golf Club; a 72-hole event with a 36-hole cut after 2 rounds. The event will be held Friday-Sunday, so if you're around over the weekend be sure to check it out. Good luck to Rob Smith, Simon Robinson, Mark Walsh, Adrian Lockhart, Matthew Bargh and John Wilding.
Meg Cullen Named Daktronics-NAIA Women's Golf Scholar Athlete
A big well done to our very own Meg Cullen, who over in the states has been has been named Daktronics-NAIA Women's Golf Scholar Athlete, the NAIA announced on Thursday. I'm sure we can congratulate Meg when she is back in the UK over the summer.
Sunday Medal
Unfortunately, I didn't get to do a full write up for Sunday's 2nd Medal this week on Facebook, however, there were some brilliant scores. I must point out a great round from Matt Birch and also some under par rounds from Mark Walsh and Ryan Grimshaw. Keep it up Lads. Always remember our results go up on the main notice board, as well the Professional's raffle results.
Whittaker Trophy
Congratulations to Anita Russell and Sandy Squires for their win in the Whittaker Trophy; a mixed foursomes event held on Saturday.
Short Game Masterclass - Saturday, 17 June (9:30am - 12:30pm)
The class will include tuition from Ryan and Trevor covering chipping, shot selection, pitching, lob shots, bunker play and putting. The cost will be £25 per person. We will cover most aspects of the short game, answer questions and send you away with detailed information on your game. Masterclasses are limited to 10 people.

Putting Clinics
Our Putting Nights give you the perfect opportunity to find out exactly how your stroke is using our SAM PuttLab. The two hour session includes information on technique, equipment, routines and practice tips. Ryan and Trevor will go through every detail you need to hole more putts and lower your scores, plus you will see your stroke in detail never seen before using our SAM PuttLab. These sessions are £15 per person and are limited to eight spaces per session. Dates are as follows:

Benross 3rd Medal Challenge Day
Wednesday, June 7th from 8am
Join Benross on the first tee where you can hit their new HTX Compressor driver range and test it against your own driver. Centenary Pro-AM-AM
Saturday July 1st Shot Gun start times of 8.30am (morning) and 1.30pm (afternoon)
To enter this awesome event with a chance to play with some new golfers, make friends and see how the Pro's do it, just pop your name down on the sign-up sheets that are up on the notice board in the Snooker Room. The afternoon is filling up fast, but we have plenty space available in the morning. This event is great if you have also joined Heysham this year! For any more information see Trevor in the Shop, this is available to all members including male, female and juniors.
