The US Open is around the corner which means Father's Day is drawing in, we have a few ideas of how to treat your golfer dad for next Sunday! If you do fancy treating him to some grub, make sure you get booked in with our staff here in the golf club, delicious food at modest prices! I know I will be doing that! Our Lancashire Amateur Championship was held this past weekend as the county's best golfers visited Lancaster Golf Club in the 72 hole event. We had a bit of a success from our club with Adi Lockhart finishing tied 15th for the full event including picking up the lowest 36-hole nett score total for the first two rounds. Our other players from Heysham unfortunately failed to make the cut, so we are very proud of 'Lockers' for flying the flag. Sean Towndrow eventually won the event round the well-kept Lancaster course with some of our other notable customers shooting some great scores.
Speaking of Lancaster our juniors managed to get a sneaky 3 - 0 victory in their match last Sunday as part of the North Lancashire Junior League, well done everyone! Congratulations as well to Stuart Wilson and Mick Cannon for their victories in the Pearce Smith and the RB Lee Trophy, our first 36-hole event of the season held last Saturday and Sunday, great scores boys
Short Game Masterclass - Saturday, 17 June (9:30am - 12:30pm)
The class will include tuition from Ryan and Trevor covering chipping, shot selection, pitching, lob shots, bunker play and putting. The cost will be £25 per person. We will cover most aspects of the short game, answer questions and send you away with detailed information on your game. Masterclasses are limited to 10 people.

Putting Clinic - Tuesday, 20 June (7:00pm)
Our Putting Nights give you the perfect opportunity to find out exactly how your stroke is using our SAM PuttLab. The two hour session includes information on technique, equipment, routines and practice tips. Ryan and Trevor will go through every detail you need to hole more putts and lower your scores, plus you will see your stroke in detail never seen before using our SAM PuttLab. This session is priced at just £15 per person and is limited to eight spaces..

Centenary Pro-AM-AM - Saturday, 1 July
To enter this awesome event with a chance to play with some new golfers, make friends and see how the Pro's do it, just pop your name down on the sign-up sheets that are up on the noticeboard in the Snooker Room. The afternoon is filling up fast, but we have plenty of spaces available in the morning. This event is great if you have also joined Heysham this year! For any more information see Trevor in the shop, this is available to all members including male, female and juniors.
Club Gapping Day with Trevor and Paul - Saturday, 8 July (9:00am - 1:00pm)
Details of this event are as follows:
Learn your yardages of every club using our GC2 System.
Learn your pitching yardages of 35, 50, 75 and 100 (if required) to find out you swing lengths.
Expert advice from Trevor and Paul on finding gaps in your game and how you can improve your distance control.
You will be emailed a list of your yardages, plus recommendations on how to plug any gaps.
Any club purchases will then receive a 10% discount.
Eight slots available each lasting one hour.
This gapping day is £25 per person for a one hour full gapping session. Slots can be booked via the pro shop or click here to send us an email.
A Word with the Coach...
I hope everyone is enjoying the golfing season so far, despite this bit of poor weather we've had this past few days. I've enjoyed a great week however seeing some of the guys I teach enjoy some success. Jack finished tied eighth in Switzerland in the Challenge Tour event, hopefully he can produce similar results in the next few weeks. He has been playing great for the past few weeks, but not quite getting things clicking together, this week things started to do just that and if a few more putts had dropped he would have finished even higher. His schedule hots up shortly with five weeks in a row playing including Open Qualifying at Hillside, so fingers crossed for another Open spot for the big man. I will be working with him late on Sunday night for a tune up before he jets off to France. As Trev mentioned, it was great to see Adi Lockhart doing well in the Lancashire Amateur, he had a fitting recently so it's great to see him really producing some good scores to give him a return on his investment; his King Tec Cobra irons will be a massive boost in these windy conditions as they bring out such awesome low flights. Jack Clarkson finished runner-up as he returned from the states on his golf scholarship (Same college as Meg Cullen) and he will be golfing during the summer. I have taught Jack for many years and he is a fantastic pupil with some serious game and it was nice to see him for a tune up before the event. Another American student Adam Stone was named Athlete of the Year at East Bay. Adam has won a few college events and will be back home shortly to play in some big amateur events over the summer; I look forward to catching up with him. I am constantly in contact with these guys via email looking at their swings and giving them a checkover when they are away.
Many of you may not know, but I also help my wife in the role of Junior Organiser, so I am always about to hopefully answer anything junior related. As Trev mentioned, our team picked up a win on Sunday which was great to see, especially with four of our team members being under the age of 12. Our team's average age was 13 years and 3 months which suggests a bright future for our kids. A special mention to Charlie who continued his match alone after his playing partner came off the course sick with a migraine. With my members' academy and Paul's bambino sessions we saw 50 children take part in coaching over the weekend making use of our amazing facilities. Factor in Trev's private tuition and his visits to school this week and we have connected over 150 children with golf in the past seven days; it's great to see and be a part of.
