Hello golfers,

Check out the picture that was taken on Tuesday, 1 August in our glorious British summer; our practice bunker reduced to a pool of rainwater. The course, a testament to how well it drained, stayed open but with the bunkers quite rightly out of play. We couldn't even use the Swing Lounge as it having work done underneath the mat, ready for it's busy winter schedule. Still, don't forget you can still get your golf fix in the poor weather under cover on the driving range, or get a lesson booked in the fitting studio with protection from the elements! Really I should be flogging shorts and sunglasses, but as I blog these thoughts down Linda is hanging up some waterproof trousers... sigh! However, despite the depressing weather we have had some great news out of Heysham this past week, some tremendous results from our members, customers and students. Check out our success stories with Ryan later on in the newsletter and our junior members excelling.

Medal Result

Despite a cancelled 11th Medal last week, the 12th Medal went ahead on the Sunday. Clayton member Simon Robinson not only broke par with a superb 66, but also won the First Division. Arthur Nuttall, fresh off a lifetime of smashing drivers on the range, managed to win Division Two and Geoff Dunn had a superb 66 nett to win Division Three. A special mention to second placed Liam Doherty, who had a putting lesson with myself last week and also to junior Aidan Hartin for a third place finish in his first ever men's competition.

Audi Regional Qualifier

Member Matt Birch, known for recently having a few pints before showing his son how to skateboard and subsequently breaking some ribs, played last week in Regional Qualifier for a national Audi competition. Matt was paired with Lancaster member and Clubfit Golf student Dave Rimmer, taking on 30 couples in battle at Chesire's Mere Golf Club. Dave with his experience of this event, helped Matt (and his ribs) round in awful weather to win the Regional Qualifier. The lads will now head to the National Final at Bowood Golf Club in September. The top two pairs will go on to Mexico in the World Finals of the Audi Quattro Cup. Well done lads and best of luck!

Junior Summer Camps

Paul will be holding some Junior Summer Bambino Camps during the school holidays. The dates can be found below, everyone is welcome and you can attend any of the events you choose. The days will cover all aspects of the golf game, plus rules and teamwork and plenty of prizes up for grabs. Each camp will run from 12:00pm - 5:00pm.

Clubfit Golf success stories with Coach Ryan Done

We start off with some amazing results from my homegrown Heysham juniors. Firstly, John Wilding who came second in the Lancashire Under 16 Championship at Gathurst, in fact he should have picked up the win, but a great start to the week. He then went to Southport & Ainsdale in their 36-hole Junior Open and won, an incredible result especially with scores of +1 and -4. John is now nearly off a +1 handicap, hopefully the start of a great career in golf. Closer to my heart, my two boys have been playing a lot lately, with me and Mrs D sharing the taxiing duties. I took them to Brampton to play in the Junior Open, Lucas winning best gross and Curtis picking up a runners-up spot in the nett category, very proud dad moment!

Further afield with my young students, Harvey and Louis Talarczyk won their respective age categories in a Faldo series event at Pleasington. The brothers battling some poor weather in the 54-hole format, Harvey eventually winning overall with a score of 3-under-par.

College player Jack Clarkson was taking part in the English Amateur at The Berkshire, firing a 36-hole total of 1-under-par to qualify for the final 64 matchplay round. Good luck Jack.

How about the Bear's round of 63 last week in Sweden, a -9 total was round of the week and included two eagles! Jack went onto finish 10th, it could've been better but that result puts him into the top 30 as he hunts out a top 15 golden ticket to the European Tour. Just over halfway through the season now, everything to play for and courses lying ahead that will suit his game better.
