Hello golfers,

In 48 hours Heysham will join Morecambe and Lancaster in the annual Clayton Trophy (which is actually a shield), this year held at Morecambe Golf Club. The team have been putting in their preparations this week including a practice round at the familiar promenade course tonight. As previously mentioned in past newsletters our team will be dressed in some beautiful FootJoy polo's for the occasion, but if you fancy supporting your team in blue, we have plenty available in the shop. Speaking of teams, our HGC fanbase will be out in full force, expect to see 20 of the boys in matching 'drinking team' shirts. The team strolled to victory last year at Heysham and will be looking to defend against strong opposition. All three teams will be sporting debutantes to go alongside the veterans of the Clayton Trophy. Whatever side you are on, we hope to see you there and if you get some pictures of the action unfolding, feel free to send them to us to feature in our newsletter and on social media. Competition Results

This week has been full of golf competitions with the Tony Dent spreading across last weekend and the re-arranged 11th medal following up yesterday. As usual we witnessed some impressive scores. Well done to Jim Miller, John Smith and Frank Burke for their divisional wins in yesterday’s medal. There was also some great scores from Josh Smith (72 gross) and Simon Robinson (68). Simon Robinson has been on form, which is good news for the Clayton Trophy on Saturday. He had two great scores over the weekend including a 64 (-6), but could only come second in the 36-hole event. Simon eventually finished a massive 13 shots behind eventual winner, Jack Huntington. Jack scored a low of 57 in the first round, a crazy low score from the youngster. The junior competitions this week includes a 36-hole Peter Coyle Trophy tomorrow and will lead to an eventual Blenkinsop Token Team. The junior version of the Clayton will be held at Heysham on Saturday, 26 August. Look out for our team in the coming newsletters.

Speaking of the juniors, today they are playing in a competition on the same day as the Veteran's Trophy; so there is currently a 74 year difference between golfers out on the course.

Junior Summer Camps

Paul will be holding some Junior Summer Bambino Camps during the school holidays. The dates can be found below, everyone is welcome and you can attend any of the events you choose. The days will cover all aspects of the golf game, plus rules and teamwork and plenty of prizes up for grabs. Each camp will run from 12:00pm - 5:00pm.
