Hello Golfers, I hate to break it to you, but I'm off to Spain for five days golfing and despite feeling very smug about this, I won't rub it in too much as I'm sure the rain clouds will descend upon Benalmadena like never before. 20 Heysham boys golfing in Spain with beer occasionally making an appearance, what could possibly go wrong? Well two years ago Rob Smith broke his leg after a first night rugby tackle from Adam Hutchinson. It's worth noting we weren't playing rugby. Then last year a young Daniel Walsh, who knows how to speak Portuguese... He speaks it so well in fact he managed to have a polite conversation with a gentlemen who then called several of his friends to join him in chasing Daniel across Albufeira; good job Daniel is quick(ish). So on to 2018, I'm sure as we head to a change of destination we will be safe and well, but if you're keen on following the goings on make sure you follow us on Facebook at Heysham GC Pro Shop. It's Team Trev vs. Team Ryan; my team has yet managed to win. So to sound like a Liverpool fan, this year is OUR YEAR! In today's newsletter you can find information on how to enter Club Knockouts, a list of our upcoming Opens at Heysham PLUS how to improve your short game on our award winning facilities. Did you know you could also win a Motocaddy S1 lithium trolley? Or did you know you can save £20 by trading an old cart bag? Or did you know you can get your Titleist Pro V1 balls personalised FREE and even get a dozen FREE balls! Phew... |
Winter League A big congratulations to Lee Tomlinson as he finished top of the Winter League table for 2017/18. He pipped his fellow syndicate partner to the post; Steve Lockhart finishing in second place. As the Winter League has ended we will be shortly awarding all winnings to your shop accounts. All syndicates have until Sunday to pass their syndicate members names on to us and HOW they want their winnings to be split. Any past this date will just be paid to each person individually. |
Junior Handover Ceremony Well done to Daniel Guest who ended his year as Junior Captain, successfully passing the baton onto Lucas Done at this past Saturday's Junior Handover Ceremony. Lucas started his captaincy off with a brilliant speech and an offer to take younger junior members out on the golf course when it is time for them to get their first handicap. On the night we also raised £135 from the bingo and raffle. This money goes towards junior section activities in 2018. We would've raised more but the Peacocks pretty much won everything!

Captain's Blog... First of all a big thank you to those who came to the picture hanging ceremony, it was a great night. The sheet has gone up in the snooker room for my Away Day to Grange-over-Sands on Friday, 15 June, I look forward to seeing you there. Well that's the end of the Winter League - a big congratulations to Lee Tomlinson, a few had a chance of winning but Lee stayed strong, Vice Captain Carl, had a chance but his spine dropped out and booked a holiday so he couldn't play. Well done to Big Trev Newsham for his MASSIVE drive on the 4th, I've heard it measured 30 yards. There were a couple of ridiculous scores on Sunday 2 x 91 points. It's the longest I've seen Tony Hurst sit in the clubhouse asking everyone who came in what they had scored, so we knew his team had played really well.
Some of you may know in my syndicate if you're the loser you buy the chips, congratulations to John Dobson for being the Winter League Chip Buying Champion, even buying more than Arnie Duckworth. Now regarding Arnie he did an amazing trick shot a few weeks ago - a triple hit with his wedge. As always if you have any club gossip for me to mention, don't forget to pass it on.
It was great to see the club so full on Mothering Sunday with Julie and her team feeding over 200, including the Done family celebrating a late Christmas dinner with crackers and party hats after Callum's return from Australia. He soon returns to Trump International Links, Aberdeen, for the season with my son closely following in April. |
A word from the Coach... After some rainy days working with Jack Senior in Portugal, I returned to yet more rain before I join the Heysham Barmy Army on our trip to Spain. This week I've enjoyed working with some talented youngsters up at Heysham. Louis Talarczyk, a great talent with a positive future ahead has been working at his hip rotation. Check out the picture of his position at impact, the way he compresses the ball is a joy to watch. Also our very own John Wilding has been working hard on his game at Rossall School in Fleetwood and in the studio with me. He has a lot of big junior and men’s events coming soon so we tested some new equipment for 2018. |
|
We found the TaylorMade P790 irons were quality giving John a little extra length, but also a more penetrating ball flight. John is looking forward to having them in his bag for the season. You can try out the new equipment anytime with me, remember we don't charge for fitting when you make a purchase and I'm sure with some of the equipment out there we can find you an extra 20 yards off the tee. The new TaylorMade M4 is amazing! I hope to see many of you in the studio before the season and make sure you take advantage of my MOT deal! |

From rain and thermal options to tour-favoured leather and more budget-friendly synthetic, there are lots of gloves for you to consider, which is why we’re here to lend a helping hand. |
Tour favourite Why do tour players choose leather? Well, leather gloves offer the best feel with the traction you need to generate power. It’s also moisture resistant so will stay soft for longer. One glove that fits the bill perfectly is the Callaway Tour Authentic glove that is worn on tour. It’s made from premium cabretta leather for responsive feel with great grip, while perforations on the fingers and thumb increase breathability so you don’t get a sweaty hand. |
|
Great value Synthetic materials are stretchy and lightweight, so suit a golf glove perfectly. They’re often used alongside leather palm sections to enhance flexibility, while they should also be more durable than leather models at the cost of a little less feel. Why not come and try the Callaway Xtreme 365 glove? Its Opti-Flex material is designed to offer great feel, flexibility and increased durability for improved grip in all weather conditions. |
