If I had a pound for every time someone asked me who my money is on this week... I'd be a very rich man; welcome to Masters week. If you are wondering my money is on Webb Simpson, Paul Casey and Charley Hoffman; never one to bet on the favourites I usually fancy a larger odds flutter. The Masters Week is usually a feeler for starting the golfing season, the winter hibernators come out from their caves, we welcome back golfers we haven't seen in a while and hopefully I sell double the Mars bars than I did in March. The good news is for you returning golfers we have plenty going on at the club from coaching events, shop offers, competitions and upcoming social events; time to be excited. As for the golf, you can join some of us on Sunday to watch the climax to the golf in the clubhouse and if you are playing in the Fred Bland Trophy you can have a go of our Masters Sunday Sweep (more on that later). So enjoy the golf, welcome back to the club for the returning hibernation experts, read through today's newsletter and see what takes your fancy in the shop, the coaching rooms or out on the golf course. |
On the Course... Congratulations to Adam Kilifin and Chris Burgess, their +9 bogey format win in the Trimpell Tassie kicked off our 2018 board competition season with the Fred Bland Trophy being held this Sunday. This will be another pairs competition before heading into our Spring Open the following weekend. Good luck and well done to John Wilding who is part of the Lancashire Boys Team at Sherwood Forest this week in the National Four Counties tournament. Great to see youngsters coming through the ranks here at Heysham and representing the county. |

Wedge Fitting Thanks to all those that took part in our Titleist Fitting Day last weekend. Wedge fitting is such an important part of today’s game, not just in yardage, but also choosing the correct bounce and grind. Titleist offer the widest range of wedges available with multiple lofts, grinds and finishes. You can try them at any point for FREE as we have over 25 demo wedges available. Or why not book a FREE fitting session (when you two buy wedges or more)? It's all about 'Wedgeucation', learning about what you need your wedges for. An example of this is my own, I carry a 50 degree wedge to service a yardage at 115. I then carry a 54 degree wedge to service 100 yards. My 58 degree wedge is mainly used for pitching, chipping and bunker play so I need a versatile wedge. A word of advice, DON'T use a 58 degree or more to hit a full shot and force a yardage, have a club which you can pitch comfortably with at different yardages. Look out for more wedge fitting information and also an upcoming education evening on choosing the right wedges for your golf game. |
Cobra Fitting Day - Wednesday, 11 April (3:00pm - 7:00pm) Test out the new Cobra King F8 line up, or why not see if one length is for you? You can book a FREE slot via the shop if you're interested in Cobra products.

Entry will be £2 per person. You can randomly draw any player. If a player is drawn more than once, YOUR Fred Bland score comes into play. If three people draw Rory McIlroy, and he wins, the highest Fred Bland score from those three people win. Prize money will be credited in the pro shop and dependent on the number of entries. Put your name up in lights |
It only comes around once a year and it’s that time again - Masters week! The first Major of the year takes place at Augusta National this week, which we always take as a sign that the season is getting underway. With this in mind, we have one question for you: are you ready to play your best golf this year? |
Maximise your potential We've all sat looking at the honours boards in a clubhouse before, admiring the one name that appears to be on most and thinking 'wow, they must be pretty good!' Well, how good would it feel if that name up in lights was yours? If you come and speak to us we can talk about your strengths, weaknesses and goals for this season and look at the best way to help you achieve them, whether that’s a one-off fault-fixer lesson, regular sessions to aid your consistency or perhaps a look at your equipment. |
