A busy weekend ahead for Heysham Golf Club as we head towards our first Spring/Summer Open on Sunday. It's worth noting that on Sunday we still have spaces to enter, the first fourball betterball event of the summer season. You can enter online or via the pro shop, the members' price is reduced rate of only £8 per person. This follows our Sponsors' Day Event tomorrow, an 18 hole team event followed by pie and peas. If you would like some information on how to be a sponsor at Heysham Golf Club our package is available at the bottom of this newsletter including a tee board out on the golf course. I am hoping we get better weather than the past week, a dodgy mix of cold spells and then the ever featuring rain. In fact our Short Game Masterclass was held in pretty much three hours of rainfall. Despite that we had a great time, all that attended learned a tonne and we can happily say our next short game day is now scheduled, read on to find out more. Thanks also to Sean, our Cobra Technical Rep who carried out our Cobra Fitting Day this past Wednesday, plenty of golfers benefiting from trying the full range with expert guidance from Sean. A big thank you to our customers who took part in the day and I hope they are looking forward to their new clubs. Speaking of thank yous, our iron fitting customers always a receive a hand written thank you card from our team and some treats, including our Clubfit golf tees; even more reasons to be fitted at Heysham Golf Club. I hope you all enjoyed the Masters, Patrick Reed a worthy winner in his awful pink shirt may I add! Despite being unpopular on Tour he dug in well despite some charges from Rickie Fowler and Jordan Spieth, Rory being the biggest let down. Our Masters Draw was also popular on the Sunday. Well done to Jack Heap and Greg Anderson for sharing £70 for picking out Reed, Colin Harris for picking out Fowler and scoring 42 points in the Fred Bland Trophy. He won £27.50 along with Shaun Gorry who picked out Jordan Spieth and managed 39 points. Plus Dan McCamley won on John Rahm, a nice £25 for his pick and a 43 point total in the Fred Bland Trophy. Speaking of the Fred Bland Trophy, well done to Andrew Hill and Ryan Grimshaw for winning the second board competition of 2018. An impressive 46 point total for the duo, and a sweet first board competition victory for 'Hilly' since he joined 18 months ago. Well done boys! Just sneaking past Clark Stanley-Jones and Matty Hartley, another superb score of 45 points, must've been the new TaylorMade Spider Tour putter you picked up Clarko! Well done to the third place duo of Steve Lockhart and Martin Fagan, 'Faigs' has been having a few lessons with myself so it's great to see him up there, with a 26 point back nine as well.
