Two very strange things happened this past week at Heysham, events we may never see again, but likely will never hear the end of. In our Sponsors' Day last Friday for the first time EVER the Doney clan teamed up together to represent our business; Clubfit Golf. Now if this wasn't strange enough, not only did they not argue round the golf course, not only did Curtis survive a Linda 90 degree shank, not only did Ryan not get fully bored by hole two, but they also managed to come away as winners. Unbelievably this bundled together team managed to coexist as a coherent family unit playing golf, but they also managed to do it well! So a big bravo to Ryan, Linda, Curtis and Lucas for the big win; it's worth noting that Linda celebrated with an alcohol free beer because if you didn't already know from her several Facebook posts, an advertising campaign on national TV and boards dotted around Morecambe. If you would like to find out more about how to advertise at Heysham Golf Club and become an exclusive HGC sponsor then please contact us here and we can help you find the right package for your business. Prices start at £50 per year.

Winter League It may have been indoors, but our annual Winter League finished last night as the top four league teams took part in our play-off event. In its third year the league is a great way for you to practice and also have fun over the winter months, with 30 teams taking part this year. We would like to congratulate Dan McCamley and Chris McCardle for again winning this year’s Winter League to add to their previous two victories. The duo managed a superb score of 24 points round nine holes at Mission Hills Blackstone last night, meaning they beat Callum Mulholland and Graeme Crowther into second place. Mal Savage and Dave Blacow finished third, they scored a tremendous 23, but lost three points due to their league position in the play-offs. Phil Bleasdale and Ste Armer finishing in fourth Place with 17 points in the play-off event. Thank you to Callaway Golf for sponsoring, all teams in the play-offs benefiting from over £1,000 worth of prizes. Look out in the coming weeks for our new Swing Lounge Trophy that will be presented to Dan and Chris. Look out at the end of summer for next year’s Winter League, how to enter and see if you can take Dan and Chris' grip off the trophy. |
Away Trip We wish our pack of golfers a great trip over to Wheatley in their annual weekend stay with the Doncaster golfers. This year for their trip over we provided them all with some logo'd Callaway shirts in honour of our past President and well loved friend Phil 'Fozzy' Foster. I'm sure a few can divulge in some Fozzy Lagers in memory of Phil... |

Clubfit updates The shop has had some impressive new arrivals in the past few weeks, but our favourite has been our brand new adidas display wall. We have blocked a window up to give us some more wall space allowing us to create this beautiful adidas store in store display. Pop in and have a browse! We have also launched our Callaway 2018 spring/summer range, with shirts from £29.99 and a huge array of choices, plus sizes up to XXXL, we can find a piece of clothing for everybody! This does however mean some stylish items have made it onto our Sale Rail, which has this week started to go outside due to the nicer weather... Woohoo! Pick up a bargain when you're next in the shop.

Wedge Fitting
We offer the widest array of wedge choices in the area, but did you know you can be fit for FREE when you buy any two wedges. But why have your wedge fitted? - Many iron sets now have become stronger meaning your Pitching Wedge could well be as strong as 43/44 degrees.
- If you then have a Sand Wedge of around 54 degrees you leave a possible 10 degree gap - That could be as much as 35 yards!
In our wedge fitting sessions we gap your clubs, so you find the right lofts you need to have consistency in your shorter irons. We then find the right bounce and grind for your lofted clubs, finding you versatility when needed and make sure you are comfortable when chipping/pitching. We can also fully customise any wedges from new grips/shafts to personalisation stamping. Click here to book a wedge fitting today OR simply try some of our demos when you next visit our short game area.

The changes to the Rules of Golf are fast approaching with 2019 now less than nine months away, so we thought we’d take a closer look at one common rule that’s getting a makeover. |
Change of procedure when taking relief When taking a penalty drop from a lateral water hazard, one option available to you is to drop a ball outside the hazard within two club-lengths of and not nearer the hole. Under the new rule (17.1c), from 2019 you’ll need to use the longest club in your bag (other than a putter) to measure one club-length or two club-lengths depending on the situation. The other alteration comes when dropping the golf ball. At present, you must drop your ball from shoulder height when taking relief, but this will change to knee height from 2019. Let us know your thoughts by getting in touch below. |
