On the Course... On Sunday we had the 4th Medal take place, a benign day that led to a lower scoring day than we've seen recently. Division 1 winner Terry Keenan shot 75-10-65, his best round despite his claims of grandeur. Always the bridesmaid Ryan Grimshaw had the lowest score of the day with 67-1-66, only just missing out on the win as usual, but he deserves a mention or else he will get upset. He dropped down to scratch....but that only lasted 3 days. Lee Thompson with a great knock of 69-2-67 finished in 3rd. In Division 2 Steve Armer split a trio of 65 netts with his 80 gross, Matty Hartley came in 2nd with an 81 and then Dvae Luraschi in third with 79; some great scoring! Score of the day was saved for Bob Bannerman, an 87-23-64 won Division 3 by a couple to Brian Threlfall with his 85-19-66 effort. Dan Hodges came in third with 85-18-67, he beat Paul Wareing on a card playoff, unlucky.
On Wednesday the conditions were a bit more mixed, earlier tee times proved to be the winners. Matt Birch fired in a 69-3-66, dropping him to two and again we try to claw some credit due to his fitted Callaway Rogue driver. Young John Wilding partnered in a two ball with his dad Adrian fired a 66 gross to put him in 2nd and Dave Heywood finishing in third with 74-6-68. Good to see Simon Robinson with a 68 as well, better golf from the big man. Division 2 winner Steve Shields was booking lessons this week, complaining of playing poorly, so it may come as a surprise for him to win with a 83-17-66. 2nd place again was saved for Matty Hartley with 82-14-68 and in third place was John Smith with 80-12-68.
The third division gave us the score of the day and with his new fitted PING Irons; Alex Wisdom shooting down an 87-24-63 to win by a couple. Another great score from Michael Murray put him in 2nd with 91-26-65, again benefiting from a new putter and John McCray in third with 90-21-69.
