| [*END*] Think back to last October, you may remember a tonne of rain, some rain and a few downpours; now this October we have a day that felt like June, how the hell am I supposed to sell all these winter boots? That being said, you must prepare for Winter, it will come and you will need those Winter boots, so check them out in store now; new designs and plenty of sizes! The course, still looking fabulous will host its last handicap competition of the season with the Autumn Medal this coming Sunday, before we head into the winter events and eventually the Winter League. One last week to potentially give me some ammunition for the Gents Prizegiving Evening in a few weeks’ time on Friday, 2 November. The full information for that evening can be found in today's newsletter, but I will say...If you have any valuable information about a fellow golfer to share with me, now is the time! Speaking of prizegivings’, tomorrow is our Junior Awards Evening, everyone is welcome to cheer on our prize winners and we even have some night golf on offer for those that fancy a trip up with a few beers.Full timings can be found in our events section.
Enjoy today's newsletter with info on treating yourself to a club sweater, your subscription renewals and a clearance list of clubs that is too good not to be missed!
Enjoy this week's read. |
On the Course...
Our last official board competition has come and gone, a tough Single Stableford to win as all golfers play in one single division. Big props go to Terry Hallam for amassing 39 points on that long golf course, only four golfers broke the 36-point barrier. Also, a big well done to Shaun Ward for his nine-point total; good lad Shaun, solid for you that! In other competitions news a warm well done for Matt Birch and Lee Tomlinson who were the Lunesdale League Double Winners for 2018, capping off a decent year for both lads, despite Lee's fight with a bit of machinery. |
** Subscription news for Heysham members**
Your subscription renewals are now due, you should have received them but contact the office if you haven't yet. The office will be open every Saturday during October between 9:00am-12:00pm.

Three days to go!
Just a couple of steady four mile runs this week as I’ve been frightened of any injuries at my age. This event was slightly eclipsed by the arrival of a letter on Monday advising I had been successful in the London Marathon Ballot- some of you will be pleased to know that I won’t be continuing with my blog until April.
Thanks to everyone who has sponsored me for this half marathon I will confirm the amount next week which will be split between British Red Cross and Cancer Research UK - Captains and Lady Captains charities. Any donations can be made in the Pro Shop |

Sometimes it's nice to reminisce about the good times. When it comes to golf, the days of persimmon woods, small clubheads and hitting balls which were hard as a rock are long gone - but it can help to take a trip down memory lane to remind us of just how much technology has developed, particularly in the case of drivers. |
Time tunnel
Take TaylorMade for example; you might have been lucky enough to own its iconic r7 Quad driver way back in 2004. The r7 was memorable for introducing the then-revolutionary concept of changeable weights in a driver, which was a massive shift from the conventional 'one weight fits all' approach. The r7 Quad is a classic club, and is certainly remembered with fondness. Fast-forward to the present day and TaylorMade has released its most technologically advanced driver to date in the form of the M3. The M3 really shows just how far we've come in terms of moveable weights, with a Y-Track feature that allows golfers to adjust their settings for optimal trajectory, maximum forgiveness, or less spin. So, whilst it is nice to think about your first ever driver, it's probably time to get up to speed with the latest models such as the M3. Who knows? Maybe in another 10 years time, you'll be looking back on the M3 with as much fondness as the r7 Quad! |
