Big renovation news from HGC this week, the Spike Bar has been blown up (kind of), making way for a wave of Professionals (definitely not) to come in and create a new, warm relaxing environment to enjoy your pint in (Lime and Soda for Linda).
You can see a a picture of the continued work below, but you must wait until the weekend for the big reveal.

We will also feature the finished pictures on our Facebook page, so make sure to follow us to see what works been done. As I've been in, I think it's fair to mention the guys involved in the work; Captain Gav, Vice Carl, Nick Lamb, Phil Howarth, Wayne Hartin, Mal Humpage, Pete Savage, John Robinson, Paul Rogerson, Paul Singleton, Ryan and Linda and the Foreman, Steve Carter. They've all been hard at work, giving up their own time for the benefit of the club, so fair play to them.
Elsewhere in the club, you can now pick up an AGM pack from the Office ahead of our Annual General Meeting on Monday, 11 February. The Catering department are also featuring their Mother’s Day Menu, you can find a bit of information on that in our upcoming events. The course has taken a battering of ice, snow and rain this week; it has continued to stay open, but you can always catch the latest information on our Breaking News Screen found in the shop. Today it's highlighting that it's absolutely baltic out there.
In the shop we have taken delivery of the new Pro V1 ball, find out in today's newsletter as to what has changed from their last edition. Plus, the updated Swing Lounge League Table will feature, a look at two big upcoming fitting events.
Look out for a bunch of this weekend as we take on 'Football League Roulette'. With our bags ready, we will venture to the town/city of the first team to score in English League Football at 3:00pm on Saturday. Where will we end up? Find out via Facebook. Big thanks to Mick Hoyle at Squires for hosting us.
Enjoy the rest of this week's read. |
A close encounter
In the 12th edition of the Winter League there was a top two of contrasting pairings leading the way, 43 points from Tony Johnson and Dave Hutchinson, two low handicappers, was just enough to squeeze past the veterans Trevor Nunn and Brian Knowles. Trevor, playing off 30 also managed a two at the 16th, something we don't get to publish often.

2019 Titleist Pro V1/V1x balls
So, what's new? How is this ball different from the last? Is it Better?
- It has a 17% thinner cover, this helps retain the usual spin and control you get from a Pro V1, but with added ball speed
- The cover is now a much larger layer, more of that speed enhancing cover
- The core is the engine, the new 2.0 core allows for a higher rate of consistency, low spin with driver and the same exceptional feel
Pro V1 or V1x? - The X isn't as soft feeling as the Pro v1, it is however higher spinning and gives the ball a slightly higher flight. Which ball is longer? That depends on YOU.
The balls can be purchased from today for £12.99 a sleeve or £42.99 a dozen.

The moment you've been waiting for... |
Last week, we revealed some of the best irons on the market for 2019. Well, this time we're bringing out the big guns for you; it's time to take a look at one of the hottest, fastest drivers on the market in 2019 that'll have you hitting the ball further than ever off the tee. |
Cobra King F9 Speedback driver Featuring arguably the most eye-catching design on the market, as well as an aerodynamic formula which makes it the fastest and longest driver Cobra has ever made, the F9 Speedback is without doubt one of the best drivers around - at an affordable price point, too. The likes of Rickie Fowler and Bryson DeChambeau have already put this into play on Tour, so why wouldn't you go for it as well? Come and speak to a member of the team about a custom fitting. |
