You may see the shop looking a bit messy whilst we whip things into shape, just as you may see with the repair shop. We are investing heavily in bringing a more bespoke way of helping you repair your clubs.
Introducing, our new gripping station. This new piece of equipment makes our re-gripping work faster, more efficient and more professional. PLUS, it's portable, you may see us doing some outside re-gripping in the future in competitions.
|
|
Did you know, a re-grip can literally take us about 2-4 minutes? Plus, your grip will take about 15 minutes to dry. Meaning you can have you putter, or driver done as you get ready for your medal round. Watch out for us in the summer re-gripping outside, and in the meantime why not treat yourself to a FREE 7 iron grip courtesy of ourselves and Golf Pride.
It wouldn't be worth mentioning the glorious weather we've had this week would it? We've had some mega sunsets, and even from the picture the Power Stations looked impressive against the colourful sky! I wonder if they were doing any work? Enjoy today's newsletter with a look at some new arrivals, some golfer’s news and also a special mention about our golf course.

Keeping you up to date
We are near the business end again in the Winter League; a big well done to Roy Hogg and Dave Hough for their impressive 49 points winning total on Sunday.
In junior news, Bambino goers need to look out for the email gone out this week from Paul Woodhouse as we move on to Summer times from this Saturday. Ages 9 and under group is at 2:00pm and the 10+ group is at 3:00pm. For any more information please see Paul in the Pro Shop. Jack Clarkson, a Ryan Done student has recently turned Professional and is now plying his trade on the Alps Tour; this week he finished 4th in Egypt, finishing only one spot off the winner in -5. Jack picked up 2,000 euros for his hard work and it's truly great to see a local lad doing well. Keep it up Jack.

New machinery arrives The boys looking after the course have taken delivery of a new rough mower this week; you may see it zipping out about the place as the course has had a satisfying cut this week with the warmer temperatures, stimulating a bit of growth. |
We have continuously mentioned to golfers, members and visitors about the care of looking after our course, yet we still are having to deal with the golfers NOT raking bunkers. The pictures below were taken on two separate mornings.
|
Frustratingly, the boys have recently worked on the bunkers to get them ready for the summer, so to have to see bunkers not raked is disheartening. I, myself was also working on the practise bunker this week to get that in decent condition for our lessons and pre-game warm ups. Please can we continue to ask members to not only look after the course, but to ask others to do so if you think anyone isn't doing their part. Let's leave the course as we expect to find it, same goes for pitchmarks and divots. |

75 yards? Up-and-down for me... |
The majority of golfers know how far they hit their driver and irons with a full swing, but wedges require you to be a lot more accurate if you want to start shooting better scores. So, whilst it can be useful to know how far a full PW or LW goes, you'll benefit far more from dialling in your wedges so you can hit specific distances that you regularly find yourself with on the course. |
Give yourself options You'll notice that different swings with each wedge will result in yardages that overlap - see table above. This is important as it'll give you options when considering the conditions. For example, if you're facing a strong breeze, we'd suggest going up a club and utilising a shorter swing so the ball flies lower with less spin, helping it to penetrate through the wind. |
Dial in with Cleveland We'd recommend having a wedge system of the same brand and model, so you remove any variables in feel and spin across wedges. One model that we love is Cleveland's RTX-4 wedge. Some of you may have previous generations of RTX - which stands for Rotex Face Technology - but this current model has the sharpest grooves yet for more spin and maximum control around the greens. 18 bounce-grind combinations available between 46 and 64 degrees mean that a custom fitting is key if you want to get your next purchase exactly right. |
