It's the Bank Holiday weekend and the sun is shining; all ready for a weekend of golf! In fact, it's stayed so dry and is quickly getting warmer that we have had the sprinklers on taking care of the course. |
On Sunday, the first Captains Qualifier will take place, and with the preferred lies officially off it is now handicap season. I will be looking out for the best (and maybe worst) scores to share in the newsletter next week, and on Facebook. On Monday afternoon the Lady Captain will also be holding a social competition, all members are welcome and the team event game is only £1 a person, a good chance to finish the weekend with a round of golf and a drink.
If your weekend does involve a bit of golf, make sure you pop in to see us in the shop; we are full packed with some quality gear, enough to hopefully entice you into an Easter purchase. Enjoy this week’s read.

Tiger roars again!
I hope Tiger winning The Masters after 14 years was enough to inspire you to play more and better golf. Some of you may have seen me offering to give away everything red in the shop FREE after getting excited due to his win on Sunday. I must clarify that I spoke in the heat of the moment, apologies to those customers who turned up with a shopping trolley on Monday morning! PS - How cool were his Mock shirts, great to see them making a comeback!

What a finale
The Swing Lounge Winter League officially came to a close on Tuesday night following our Top 4 Play-Off. The night had a little bit of drama as Mal Savage and Dave Blacow came from behind to win by just two points over reigning champions Dan McCamley and Chris McCardle. Mal and Dave take home a prize of £200 each to spend in the shop, after a winter of warm, indoor golf; it can't be bad. Adam Kilifin and Clark Stanley-Jones finished in third, edging out Phil Bleasdale and Steve Armer. Look out for our Trophy presentation next week, thanks to all that have taken part throughout the Winter.
On Sunday we had our Spring Open, a chilly day that still produced some strong scores. You can find the full results at B where you can also find our next Opens coming up in May and the BMW Week of Opens in June. Speaking of Heysham Golf Club, we love proudly presenting our badge in our shop! Check out these new Thermal Stainless steel bottles, great for taking your drinks out on the golf course with you and helping us reduce single use plastics. These are only £19.99 available in four different colours. Check out the Shop section where you can also find out how you can order a new Crested sweater/shirt for the season ahead.

Coaching and Fitting news |
A word from The Coach
My coaching days this month have been jam full but it's been really good to get out on course doing “course management". A notable player this week was Andrew Walton, who played the seven holes level par and literally had it on a piece of string. Well done. Two more notable lessons were a lovely couple who have been coming for lessons for a while. Bryan and Carol Wardman who came for a lesson hit it fantastic, with both working on two easy swing drills. They both literally striped it. They will soon be moving to Bonny Scotland up in North Berwick, beautiful place but will still be making the trip down every month for a golf lesson. Good luck with the house move guys. |
Good week from some of my top boys with, Jack Senior finishing fourth in the Jordan Mixed Open (Challenge Tour, Seniors and Ladies), a brilliant start to the season. He continues next week in Morocco. Two of my young lads John and Louis involved in the excellent Four Counties win last week at Lancaster. Owen Leigh finishing runner-up in the West Lancashire GC Crosby plate, and a top finish also by Louis Talarczyk. |

Just 10 days to go!
Never thought I'd say "ONLY a half marathon", this week’s long run. That was Friday and finished with my best half marathon time, so this training is working.
Taper underway - reducing the mileage and concentrating on nutrition, although I can't promise I will be Easter Egg free this weekend. Trying to avoid illness and injury ready for the big day - only 10 to go.

Our latest collection of clothing has been sitting in-store for a few weeks now and, in our opinion, there's never been a better selection. From loud to safe colours, regular to athletic fit, and bold to classic designs, we really do have something for everyone this spring. |
| Glenmuir Haddington polo |
| Available with our club's crest
|
|
Some of our favourite pieces have to be these club-crested beauties from Glenmuir, who pride themselves on their craftsmanship having supplied the European Ryder Cup team on numerous occassions in the past. This stylish Haddington polo is one the best picks, with three great-looking colour options allowing you to stand out on the course for all the right reasons. Its subtle hexagonal print on the chest adds a little bit of flare to a classic two-colour design, and we think you'll love its four-way stretch fabric that offers such enjoyable comfort. We have a host of club-crested product available in-store, which make for the perfect present for a loved one (or yourself) so be sure to pop in next time you're down the club. |
