We've had a great week of golf in the UK, with the British Masters and the sun coming out to say hello! Did I mention that I might just be going to the Masters at Hillside, courtesy of Callaway Golf? I had a great day, not to rub it in, free beer and some ribeye steak for lunch; plus, a speech by Sir Kenny Dalglish. That speech nearly sent me to sleep, but the golf was a buzz and it was great to watch my mate Jack tee it up. He was unlucky not score lower on the Saturday as he was struck the ball well and hit a lot of greens. Still, he can definitely mix it with the best of them and it will be great to see him in more events in the future. |
This weekend is quite full with golf as the club hosts two competitions over Saturday and Sunday. If you don't fancy competing however, you could join us for our Short Game Masterclass, the second of the season and a great way of improving parts of your short game. We can still squeeze a couple in, but please call us direct on 01524 852000 to reserve a spot. Full information for this masterclass with Trev and Ryan can be found in the coaching section of the newsletter below. Enjoy the rest of this week’s newsletter.

Super scoring at Heysham GC
Golf is coming in thick and fast so it might be hard to get all the results in on this newsletter, so I'm just going to mention all the winners from the past several events. Firstly, well done to Angus White for being top qualifier in Sunday’s second President's Qualifier; just missing out was Daniel Entwistle (with his new custom fit Callaway Apex Forged). His under-par round means he is also now down to two, good work Dan. The first Medal was held yesterday in absolutely perfect conditions and the scoring certainly represented that! Awesome scoring from Division One winner Patrick Brennan with a 63 nett, Division Two winner Colin Seddon shooting 65 and Division Three winner Tony Wilkinson with 70. I'd like to mention Andy Tomlinson for his 66 in Division Two, unlucky not to win. Click here to follow us on Facebook where you will find a full report on the first Medal, including a story on how John Dobson had a 10 up the 14th.
In Ladies news Sandra Bowkera and Eve Burns finished top on Tuesday in a Ladies Foursomes Qualifier; an awkward format at best, their score of 74 was an impressive total. Good work Ladies! The Ladies Open on Saturday was also a big hit, thank You to everyone that took part on the day! Results can be found at www.heyshamgolf.co.uk.
Our Rabbits Section enjoyed an Away Day to Chorley Golf Club last week. I hope the guys enjoyed the golf course and congratulations to Tony Ashton who sneaked past runner-up Jason Barlow on a card play-off with 34 points. Nick Gilmour finished in third spot and there was even prize for Colin Seddon for his 38 points, that was the best score for the 'Tigers’, those under 18 handicap who joined the rabbits on the trip. If you are 18 and above, please support and join up with the Rabbits section as they have regular friendlies, days out and competitions. You can find the noticeboard in the locker room on the left hand side of the main results board.

New balls please!
We have now supplied new balls to our Short Game Area with help from Callaway Golf. You will now be lucky users of Chromesofts, Callaway’s Premium Tour ball.
|
To make it better we have used the Truvis version so that it's easier to collect your balls. We now have to be strict with how these are used, so please follow the below rules: 1 - Always leave your members card, a £20 deposit or debit card when collecting a tube
2 - Return the full tube back to get your deposit/card back. Any missing balls will be chargeable at £2
3 - The Truvis balls cannot stay out past 6:00pm, any tubes going past this time must be received from behind the bar
4 - Do not use your own balls on this area, we have gone to great lengths to help you use amazing balls and to monitor how the areas are used

A quick reminder
The course is looking stunning this week as the warmer weather has helped bring the course on massively. Thank you to all those who continue to help keep the golf course well maintained and looked after. Although, if you do see someone driving their Electric trolley into a bunker and then leaving it UN-RAKED, please politely tell them respect the course and look after the bunkers. |

What would you say if we could show you a way of achieving greater accuracy and longer distance from the tee? You would say yes, right? Well, here’s your answer… |
| Have you been custom fitted?
|
|
First things first, the easiest way to achieve the holy grail of long, straight drives is to find the middle of the clubface every time, which is easier said than done for most of us. Following that, it’s all about launching your drives high with a good spin rate. Simple, right? It doesn’t matter how fast or smoothly you swing, if the clubhead and shaft are a bad match for the way you play, your chances of sending a perfect drive into the air will be seriously hampered. |
| TaylorMade M5/M6 drivers
|
So, the very first thing we need to do is get you fitted correctly. During the process, we will chat about your game, watch you hit some balls, and assess what you have told us in order to find the right shaft/head combination for your game. Two clubs that we will definitely try are TaylorMade’s M5 and M6 drivers. These drivers come with speed injected Twist Face, which offers remarkable ball speeds and distance gains when fitted correctly. So, rather than going for the easy online purchase, come down to the club for an enjoyable custom fit session with a member of the team. |
