Well, I survived the camping in Wales, even with a few ciders and some dodgy burgers. In fact, I even managed to climb the second highest Peak in the UK; Snowdon. No, I didn't get the train up and the ordeal took roughly about five hours.
But hey, I had to do something to keep up with Linda's continuous running and her Marathon exploits. Speaking of Linda, she is closing her Virgin Giving Page tomorrow with over £2k raised so far if someone wants to give one last pound you can find the link on her Facebook Page, or pop into the shop. |

Lancashire County Ladies Championships
The Lancashire County Ladies Championships were held this past week at Pleasington Golf Club. The Ladies have a qualifying round where the Top 16 qualify for the final matchplay events and the next 16 qualify for the Challenge Plate. Youngsters Lucy Moss and Jess Parker were flying the Heysham Flag, both qualifying for the Challenge Plate. Lucy battled on to incredibly win the Challenge Plate. Amazing work from the talented golfer and we are all incredibly proud of her win. In the group battling to become Ladies County Champion was Beth Garton (Jack Seniors better half). A talented +2 golfer in her own right, Beth qualified in second and went on to dominate, becoming the 2019 Champion! Well done to both girls.

Closer to home there was some top-scoring in the second Medal on Sunday. Stewart Van De Sande with a quality 70 gross to win Division One, very happy with his play after some lessons with myself over winter. Colin Seddon continued his great form with a 66 nett in Division Two pipping Ian Davies by a shot and in Division Three some great scoring from Jack Hollings meant a win and Medal Finals Qualification, a brilliant 66 nett was enough to win in the tricky conditions. Well done all three.
On Tuesday our very own Lady Captain Gill Gardner won the Ladies Stableford Competition with 35 points; well-done LC! Then finally, the third Medal was held yesterday in difficult conditions yet again. Only four men broke Par, Alex Cookson in Division One with a superb 67, Neil Thomson with an even better 66 in Division Two and the unfortunate Martin Collin and Carl Brown; finishing behind Alex in Division One. Les Blundell picked up with a win in Division Three with 71.

What a week!
Between us, we've had a great week at Clubfit Golf teaching everyone from Paul's young Bambinos, to Ryan's star performing County Championship winners. But we've also been introducing our new 'Gateway' Members to our coaching skills.
This week a special mention for Iain who joined us this year having temporarily moved from Irvine in Scotland. With his late father’s clubs in hand, it was a pleasure to take him out for a few holes to work on his game management. New to the game, Iain could strike the ball OK, but often played himself into trouble and didn't quite have the shots to help him save some shots around the green. The newbie played four holes where we only dropped three shots. Awesome.
Course lessons are an incredible way to learn about decision making, shot selection and game management. Use us as the little voice in your head, telling you to do the right thing and to help you keep your ball in play. These can be taken with any of our Professional Team, so get booked in now at www.clubfitgolf.co.uk.

The term 'gapping' is commonly used to refer to the yardage distance between each of the wedges in your bag. We want to break this thought process and get you to think about gapping for your entire set, because any unequal gaps between clubs will have a detrimental impact on your game. |
Gapping at the top end One part of your set that needs careful consideration is how you transition from your irons into your woods. Lots of golfers struggle to hit their longer irons and instead opt for a replacement hybrid or driving iron, which can lead to large gaps between clubs if you're not careful. So, what's the solution? Well, take advantage of our services and professional advice, and we'll make sure you have the perfect club/s to fill any gaps at the top end of your bag. |
What are your options? TaylorMade recognised the problem that many golfers have in this area and brought GAPR to market to help them fix it. There is a GAPR Hi option, which is most like a hybrid in shape and offers extreme distance with a high trajectory. This is followed by GAPR Mid, which is somewhere between a hybrid and a long iron. It offers a slightly lower trajectory than the Hi and is perfect for hitting off tees or off the deck. Finally, the GAPR Lo is for the better ball strikers as its smaller profile provides excellent shot-shaping and workability from a penetrating trajectory. |
