Welcome to this week’s newsletter. It's been a really hectic week as I've been on the road quite a lot, bringing golf to various schools, and even a cubs group out at Casterton GC. I've visited three schools in the local areas where we teach a variation of golf called 'Tri-Golf'. As the lead coach for the area in Schools, it is a real privilege to be able to bring the sport I love into the lives of youngsters, something that wasn't a thing when I was in primary school. If your son/daughter or even grandchildren are at a school and you want them to take part in tri-golf; raise the query with your school and I'm sure they will get in touch.

The driving range is slowly getting some changes to it; firstly, with some new mirrors in the Teaching Bay at the end. This bay is often used by myself and Paul so it's great to be able to get a fresh look to it. |
Next will be some paint and we hope to gradually refurbish the whole range. It's been very busy recently and as it is a Heysham Golf Club owned driving range; we ask members to help us monitor poor behaviour on the range. As the range is in close proximity to the 10th fairway, we need to be careful and that is why we will restrict use on competition days to members and members of other clubs. We don't want to discourage use and also golfers getting into golf, but we also can't have groups of five people turning up with one Donnay driver between them.

Competition time!
We have a HUGE competition available THIS SUNDAY and it involves our popular Raffle. Simply enter the raffle as normal (£1) and the first prize this week will instead be a BRAND-NEW pair of adidas Tour 360 XT shoes (worth £149). First place, however, will not be drawn but will go to the best score in the Medal. So, you need to have you scoring pants on! The rest of the places will be chosen at random (as usual). Good luck! |

The lessons are paying off
Some excellent scoring Wednesday despite the tricky conditions, it really hasn't got going yet weather-wise. Dan Weatherill did enough to win Division One with a 68 despite some great scores from Curtis Done, Andy Wilson and Tony Johnson. In Division Two, only one-person broke par and that was Colin Hynd; a brilliant 68. There was also a great battle between Jack Cowell and Andy Chilton. Playing together they produced some memorable golf between them, Jack pulling in an NR, two letter synonymous with Jack. But Andy Chilton was victorious on the day, with a solid 104 gross. Well done boys. Division Three produced three rounds under par, all boys benefiting from lessons recently. Paul Kelly with a couple of lessons recently with Paul was the winner on 67, whilst Matt Grannell and Shaun Gorry just missed out. It was great to see some solid scores from them two after some lessons with myself. Well done to Sarah Bracewell and Sue Hewitson for their 43 points in the Ladies Ping 4BBB Qualifier, great scoring. Whilst we are on the ladies, four of our girls are doing the Macmillan Longest Day. Find out more info at the bottom of the newsletter, that includes a link to their Justgiving page.

Swing Lounge celebrations
The Swing Lounge is a great way to celebrate birthdays or just any family celebrations. Just look at the Dones and Halls; a joint celebration of Freddie's birthday and Callum returning home for a visit from Le Golf Nationale, the Ryder Cup 2018 venue just outside Paris.
I believe the winners on the night were Ryan and his mum Carol. They had beers from the bar and a few pizzas, what a great combo. |

To book the Swing Lounge for a birthday celebration, or to learn more about how we could cater for you, call us on 01524 85200 and speak to Trevor. You can also visit www.theswinglounge.co.uk to see our latest 'special offers' for June.
For £10 per person you could play Pebble Beach at the same time it's on TV during the US Open weekend.

If you’re an equipment junkie, there’s nothing quite like standing on the first tee clutching the latest driver – especially, with the marketing promise of faster ball speeds and greater distance firmly in your mind. The question is, should this be your number one priority with the big stick in hand? |
With the US Open taking place at Pebble Beach this week, one thing the world’s best will need in abundance is accuracy off the tee. Penal rough, fairway bunkers aplenty and the Pacific Ocean combine to create one of the hardest tests in golf. |
Introducing Cobra's F9 Speedback driver One driver that will be in a lot of golfers' bags is this beauty from Cobra. As well as impressive ball speeds and distance gains from its aerodynamic shape, the F9 also boasts two face technologies to help you hit the ball straighter. The first is its Perfected Bulge, which helps minimise gear effects for shots hit on the toe or heel. Combine this with E9 Technology, which expands the sweet zone across a typical miss-hit pattern and your ball will end up closer to your target line no matter where you strike it. So, what are you waiting for? Come and have a chat to us in the shop and we can start you on your journey to better golf this summer. |
