Who doesn't love The Open; this year being held at the majestic Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland. We've tried to bring you close to the action with a daily blog from Ryan as he works with Jack Senior in this year’s event. Ryan travelled over on Sunday night in his massive RTV we pictured last week, and so far has had a good few days; but today is where the real action starts. Hopefully Jack can make the weekend, something he hasn't quite managed in his previous two Open appearances. But, he's good enough and with experience comes positive vibes. All of us here at Heysham are behind Team Senior and if you want to follow Ryan's blog make sure you Like our page on Facebook! Enjoy this week's read. |
Macmillan Longest Day Challenge Firstly a big WELL DONE to our Ladies Quartet Tracy, Vicky, Lisa and Natasha who completed the Macmillan Longest Day Challenge this week; 72 holes in one looooong day. The girls did amazingly, with a bit of help behind them and for an amazing cause! You can still donate to the cause by visiting their just giving page - just click here. |

A great achievement Our Seniors Team were in action in the Triangular last week, taking on Morecambe and Lancaster at Morecambe Golf Club. Unfortunately, the boys didn't quite bring the Trophy home, but as always it's a great achievement to make the team and represent our great club. The boys were wearing Callaway this year as supplied by ourselves, and looked dashing in blue! Let's hope they can win the Trophy in 2020! |

Impressive Sunday scoring There were some great scores in our 10th Medal last Sunday. Division winners in Pete Bates (65), Ste Livesey (65) and Stu Raistrick (66) shows how impressive scoring was on Sunday. The golf course is offering a fair chance for golfers to shoot under their handicap, as long as that breeze stays away!
The field on the day was over 170 - very impressive and also joined by the ladies who played in their Medal. Anita Russell and Christine Ingram picked up the division wins!

A special mention... A special mention to one of my juniors, Tom Hamilton, for an impressive 78 in the Junior Medal on Monday off a 12 handicap. Tom's now nearing single figures where he can flourish! Keep it up Tom! |
A word with the Coach The main coaching blog this week can be found on our Facebook Page, but below you can see a couple of pictures from Royal Portrush of Team Senior! It's great to have our Top Coach Ryan working around the best players. Where he AND JACK, both belong!

What's Trev been up to this week?
This week marked my last school of the school year; a visit to Sandylands after being there for an amazing 24 weeks! I visited several schools this year teaching Tri-Golf and it's an incredibly enjoyable part of my job. Part of the coaching we do also helps us push Heysham Golf Club as a destination to come to when children decide to go home and tell the parents! Nearby I took on Mossgate in Heysham, and I've already seen some faces up here using the driving range! There will be more to come in September, and if you want your child/grandchild's school to get involved then let me know and I can contact the school. My individual lessons are also going well and keeping me busy. My strength has always been short game, in fact when I did play in the Pro-AM-AM I got up and down 16 out of 22 times despite a severe lack of play. I've been taking what I've learnt and how I play mixing it with James Ridyard who works with Francesco Molinari; it's bringing up some really interesting stuff. Surprisingly for most my students, it's really simple. You can see below two screenshots taken of Marie who was severely struggling. Constant thins and no control was common and as you can see from the scoopy image on the left, she wasn't giving herself much room for error. The image on the right was taken literally 5 minutes later after a quick discussion. I shallowed out her angle of attack, giving her a larger room for error and she began to see her arms working together as unite. See for yourself and if you want to learn more, get booked in for a short game lessons. ONLY £30 for a 1-hour session (That's cheap!) Click here to book a lesson. |

Golf clothing has come a long way from the old-style knickerbockers worn in the early 1900s - you can hardly imagine popping to the supermarket in a pair of those today. Fortunately, these days, golf brands make clothing that is high performing on the course but looks good enough to set the trend off it too. |
Take this Ultimate365 polo from adidas. As its name suggests, it is designed to keep you looking fresh 365 days a year, no matter what you're doing. The adidas logo is placed on the left sleeve, leaving the trendy two-colour blocked front as the main talking point.
This polo is a worthy addition to any golfing wardrobe, so come on down and take a closer look at adidas' range next time you're at the club. |
