It's Clayton Trophy week, the annual event hugely popular in the area is nearly here and hopefully this incoming weather can decide to stay away for a few more days. If you do follow us on Facebook over the next couple of days, we will have some facts and figures from the event, it's an event close to my heart being a local lad and I can't wait to see everyone compete.
The drinking team will be out in full force and the golf club are even joining the act; the halfway house is acting as a bar for the afternoon (that is if the weather behaves). Bottles will be available and they are promised to be cheap and cheerful; I hope you can join us for a few beers.
Heysham members; bring whoever you can to cheer the boys in blue on. There is a contingency plan in place in case the weather is truly as promised. Going back to 2001 at Lancaster Golf Club, consistent rain meant the singles matches were shortened to nine holes; something that may indeed happen again this weekend. We hope to see you, and thanks to all the volunteers who will be doing their upmost to help the Clayton Trophy 2019 run as efficiently as possible.
In today's newsletter you can check out some new arrivals including the new Titleist Iron and hybrid line up; they look gorgeous and we are excited about fitting people before the official launch at the end of August. Plus, you can check out our new sponsored cars below looking dashing from our club sponsor Lloyd South Lakes BMW. Don't forget to check out our upcoming coaching events found in the newsletter as well. Enjoy this week’s read.

A close encounter
Last weekend was a tight affair, meaning the Tony Dent, a 36-hole nett competition was won on a card playoff. Congratulations to Mark Walsh with a 137-total meaning a win whilst booking himself into the Clayton Trophy team. He sneaked past Adam Kilifin. There were some great scores on the weekend especially by the guys fighting for a team place. Eventually though, we had our team of eight (just a week late).
Team Heysham: Ryan Grimshaw, Simon Robinson, Tony Johnson, Daniel Entwistle, Adi Lockhart, Mark Walsh, Lee Thompson and Scott Lee. Ryan Wood will be the reserve. The Foursomes will begin at 8.30am on Saturday with Ryan/Simon, Mark/Daniel, Adi/Lee and Scott/Tony. We found a blast from the past from 1988; do you know this Clayton Trophy Team member? Do they dye their eyebrows? Click here to submit your answer. |

Golden oldies
In honour of the Veterans Trophy being held today, it's worth noting the combined age of 170 from Heysham's Irene Hall playing with 92-year-old Audrey from Morecambe in the Ladies Invitation. Amazing.

A word from the Coach
In such a mixed bag of weather this week I've still managed to squeeze in lessons and fittings. In fact, we have had two Epic Flash fittings this week for John Dobson and Jon Sumner, both HGC members. Both have taken advantage of our FREE fitting and will be gaming their new drivers shortly. I'm not going to lie, they aren't cheap; but they are worth the money, absolutely awesome. At least see if we can find you any driver to improve on your current model. Special mention to Louis Talarczyk who heads out to America on a golf scholarship. I've got really high hopes for this lad, he has an unbelievable game with great technique and desire to match. If you have had a lesson with me, you see me use his lower body action through the ball when demonstrating. Class. Lastly, good luck to our Clayton Team this weekend; as well as the other boys I teach from Morecambe & Lancaster. I do hope our lads come out on top though, and the weather isn't as bad as it looks right now. Check out our coaching events coming up below, you can book in online. |

Mathematics can be a complicated subject with all that pi, algebra and calculus floating around, but there is one simple equation we can all understand: uncomfortable golf shoes = a miserable time for all
|
Let’s break down this equation further The main problem here is that walking on hard ground for four hours/18 holes in the summer months can take its toll on our feet. Blisters and bleeding are common signs that something isn't quite right and the issue will only be exasperated if your golf shoes are worn, cracking or ill-fitting.
|
So, what’s the answer? After running the numbers through our super-computer, we end up with a pair of golf shoes that are designed for comfort, like adidas’ Tour360 XT. It boasts Boost cushioning, which will have you feeling like you’re walking on clouds every step of the way. Why not pop in the shop and try a pair on this summer? |
