Welcome, everyone to the back end of January, the longest month with approximately 67 days in it! But, we are nearly there everyone! Congratulations to those that have avoided the drink, and well done to some of our members who are raising money for various charities by doing RED January; 5k every day in January. Big mention to Andrew Hill (some help from Dez Martinez) and Ryan Grimshaw. Good on Ya Guys! If you search for them on Facebook you will find their links to their respective charity pages, donate what you can! Busy week at HGC this week, over 55 hours’ worth of lessons & fittings were taken with our team! It was great to see some impressive changes so read on about some of Ryan's lessons this week. One of which was with European Tour star Jack Senior. I managed to grab Jack for a few mins to discuss his bag for 2020, so read on to find out 'What's in the bag' for Jack Senior. PLUS, a look at what Dave and his crew have been up to this week and a quick look at a few little offers we have coming your way this weekend!
So sit back and enjoy the read! |

Time to get excited Whilst it's easy to think that the golf industry goes into hibernation during the winter months, it's actually one of the most exciting times of the year for us! This week sees the PGA Show take place in Orlando, which is a huge four day conference where golf brands large and small showcase their new product for the year ahead. There is some fantastic stuff coming and we've already started to take delivery of orders in the pro shop, so why not pop down and have a browse in the coming weeks? |

What's in The Bag with Jack Senior It was great to see Jack after his success in Abu Dhabi this week, so I grabbed a quick chance to detail what exactly he is carrying in 2020. During his session with Ryan, he had 15 clubs in his bag, the decision on dropping his 5 wood or 2 iron depends on the course he is playing. Mostly, the 2 iron will be in play (he loves that club)… |

Coaches Corner - A word from Ryan What a mental week for me with a huge bunch of lessons & fittings as Trev mentioned earlier; but I have also been helping with the Shop stocktake! Trev & Linda dragged me in! It felt like summer for me in terms of how busy I have been, the only thing is I was in waterproofs! We now have all the 2020 gear in my fitting room, so don't delay if you are thinking of getting some new gear for the season! I have literally had every standard of player in the studio this week from Tour players to beginners, it really has been a pleasure to coach; the only downside has been hand collecting balls each night! We have help and a big Thank You to the guys that helped this Friday Morning by collecting some balls down the sides of the range, it really helps us out in the club. |

I have to also mention the main guy Jack for following his great week in South Africa with a T30th in Abu Dhabi. The huge Rolex Series event has a $7mill prize fund, but Jack was down as reserve and it didn't look like he would play. He was sat on the 1st tee waiting for a drop-out on Thursday morning from 6 am! At 11.15 am he found out Marcus Kinhult was not playing so he then had 45 minutes to get warmed up and play! He hadn't played the course yet so to then finish in the Top 30 was impressive, a true testament to Jacks attitude! He will be off to Saudi Arabia for next week’s event after a week off, his swing is looking great and we did a few bits this week; some great numbers from the big guy! Once again, click here to get booked in with me and I can maybe try help you reach the height of Jack Senior.....maybe! |
Course Repairs
Dave and his team have done some repair work to help the course due to some recent damage from buggies & trolleys in the wet weather. They have extended the path that takes you to the 7th winter tee on the right-hand side of the green. Also, the 4th path from the 3rd has been extended and has been made bigger around the mat to reduce the amount of wear & tear in that area during the wetter periods. To do this, they had to painstakingly lay boards down to travel to the jobs, reducing any marks to the golf course itself! Trolleys are back on as of today, but please carry if you can and check IG every day as it can be subject to change, especially with the upcoming weather reports.
