The return of bigger groups
The best news for a couple of weeks in golf was announced at the back end of last week as it was decided we could return to 3 and 4 ball play. This has been a game changer with allowing more people on to the course and also the club to commence with match play events such as the Russ Hamilton. Please make sure you condense any bookings you had and if you need help to change anything, please contact us in the shop! We are looking forward to seeing you guys out playing our matchplay events; normality is slowly returning!
Welcome new members!
Golf has been a shining light in sport, so it's been a great pleasure to welcome new members to Heysham and to bring back some ex-members at the same time. In this period we have taken over 25 new & returning members we are excited about more golfers joining our golfing family. In the future the club will hold some new members evenings, but I ask all our current members to say hello to any new faces, offer friendly advice where possible and join any newbies for a game! Let's show all our new members the friendliness and good humour the club is known for!
A week of competition
In the past 7 days we had another Junior competition with the annual 'Jonty Classic', our 1st Presidents Qualifier was held over the weekend and the ladies Stableford event. Firstly, the juniors carried on their strong scoring with with 5 juniors breaking their handicaps on the day. Our Junior Captain had his lowest score of his early career with a gross 76 to sneak a win over Jess Parker and Thomas Hamilton. They both missed out with nett 67's. All 3 benefiting from regular lessons! The weekend had some strong scoring with 5 people beating par on Saturday. Les Dagger and Graham Spavin the pick of the bunch with 67 netts. Tony Johnson with a strong 71 gross also worth a mention, as well as young Aidan Hartin with a 68 nett. Sunday in the warm conditions saw 6 break par, Peter Hetherington coming out on top with 67. Ryan will be keen to mention him and Les after they recently had lessons! Adi Lockhart with an impressive gross 70, the lowest on the day! Well done to all others who broke their handicap over the weekend! The top 8 on each day qualified to play in the next stage of the competition. On Tuesday 26 ladies took part in their Single Stableford event. The best scores on the day were by young Jess Parker and Kay Murray-Lee with 34 points. In division 2 Christine Ingram scored 33 to come out on top! Well done to all, keep up the good work! |
