The Last week of Lockdown

Once again the 'Thatchers Team' have been busy out and around the club, extra work to the car park and tidying up the toilet block on the 10th; they truly have been brilliant! Ryan has also been tidying up the range, a new lick of paint for the bays as well will await you! Speaking of the range, there will be a change from when we re-open on Monday.

The Range will become members only. This will include Heysham Members, Academy members, Range Pass holders and members of other golf clubs. If you aren't a member but want to use our range, you can pick up a range pass from the shop for £40. This includes 500 balls to use. We hope by going this way with our range we can provide a better experience for our users. For more information speak to Trevor or Linda in the shop or use the button below to get in touch.

On the move

You probably think of your trolley as just a handy way to take the weight of a full golf bag off your shoulders as you walk the course (which it is), but nowadays your trolley can also take a huge weight off your mind as you play.

New Motocaddy GPS trolleys

Last year marked a significant upgrade in the world of GPS electric trolleys, and this year is set to follow suit.

To begin with, Motocaddy has added GPS technology to its highly popular M3 model for the first time! As the screen below shows, you will be able to view key yardages to the green at the quickest of glances.

If you want more then the M5 GPS gives you all of this but on a larger, higher-resolution touchscreen. In addition, you'll be presented with a dynamic green view that allows you to drag & drop the pin to match what you're faced with on the course.

Golf is an up-and-down sport in more ways than one, but with Motocaddy’s Downhill Control (DHC) models your trolley will be cruising at a constant speed no matter the terrain!

1-iron or hybrid?

No matter how good you are, it’s easy to feel intimidated when placing an old-school 1-iron or 2-iron behind the ball. With the compact, ultra-thin head, you’d be forgiven for having a crisis of confidence at address… But that can be an issue. With a hybrid, however, the larger head and the shape of the sole give you a real safety net as you strike the ball.

Which would you prefer?

Perhaps the biggest game-changer of the 21st Century, the popularity of hybrids has soared in recent years. Why hit a 1 or 2-iron when the benefits of a hybrid – higher, more forgiving launch - are staring you in the face? The more shots you hit, the more you’ll notice the consistency and forgiveness you’re gaining, with the versatility to strike the ball from anywhere and any lie adding another benefit over traditional long-irons.

TaylorMade SIM2 Hybrids

At the pinnacle of this modern engineering is TaylorMade’s SIM2 & SIM2 Max hybrids. The forged C300 steel face really optimises that desired launch and distance, whilst the V-Steel sole gives you smooth ground interaction for a clean, consistent strike from tight lies, deep rough and even bunkers. A confident ball-striker may prefer the workability of the SIM2 design, with most golfers finding the more forgiving SIM2 Max a better option.
