Competition Results
Last weekend saw our Fred Bland Trophy board competition here at (believe it or not) sunny Heysham; a competition which has reverted back to a simple fourball betterball format. There was a host of good scores but one which knocked back the rest of the field from brothers Ryan and Darren Wood. Unfortunately, their 48 points effort was disqualified due to Ryan having an inactive handicap, something that is desperately unlucky and not the best of rules. Nevertheless Lee Thompson and Adrian Lockhart took advantage of this to become our 2015 winners with a fine score of 44 points, albeit sneaking to the win on a card play-off. The 'hurricane' Adrian happens to be full of praise for everything and is always happy, he also fully supports rainy weather, slow play and endorses high handicaps in golf. In a bid to stretch out the season the club has extended the competitive summer season into October which considering the weather conditions is a master-stroke. The course looks as good as it did in July and this Sunday we have a full field from 7.30am taking part in our Autumn Medal, last chance for Jack Cowell to get his handicap down before the inevitable exchanging of bets lost at our Men's prize giving in November.
Away Trip
Some of our boys descended on Sutton-Coldfield this week as 24 lads went on an annual trip away this time an overnight stay at the Belfry. A round on the Brabazon, dinner bed and breakfast and then a round on the PGA course gave the lads a chance to crack out their white pants.
Anthony Palmer escaped to work early Monday morning choosing the strange start time of 3.50am to get in the car and head home for work, bearing in mind a lot of the other lads got to bed at 2am. I haven't been informed of any antics or pants down but I was told it was a cool £24 for three gin and tonics...wow.
Project Clubfit
Friday, 2 October we will be welcoming David Morris MP to Heysham Golf Club as he gets a grand tour of Project Clubfit and what exactly is happening at Heysham Golf Club over the next six months. This will coincide with a press release as we fully announce the plans for this great golf club and those plans will make Heysham pretty much the place to be for golf in certainly the bay area, maybe the North West. You can check out our page dedicated to this project on our website where from early next week you can see the plans in full. Work has already started on part of the project, as you can see in the pictures taken this week. Check out our display in the clubhouse for more details or pop into the shop and chat about the plans and how it will benefit you!
Jack Senior in Rome
It is now well and truly the business end of the 2015 Challenge Tour season and boy do we feel it! Jack is in Rome this week after a few weeks off to rest, work on his game and put himself in a position to grab a chance at securing full playing privileges on the 2016 European Tour. Working hard on his swing Jack even developed some blisters on his thumb, bless him and not only that but he has been working with Tim Barry on his fitness and nutrition. To keep things relaxed Joe has flown out to caddie for Jack this week and I hope you all will join us in following his progress through www.europeantour.com.

A minute with the Coach
Next week we will be starting a new section of our newsletter coming straight from the source of our increasingly popular coach Mr Ryan Done. Coaching up to 60-70 lessons a week and choosing what to write about is no easy task but Ryan will be joining the newsletter each week to give some information on what he has been up to this week, who he has worked with, swing analysis, tips and even picking some of his students our on their progress. Look out for some pictures on swing improvements or some awesome FlightScope figures from the studio. Ryan will also give details about fittings that we've had, how it can help your game being fitted and most of all lower your handicap. You could be featured in this section next week by getting yourself booked in with Ryan for a lesson or fitting.
