Men's Presentation Evening
Well the 2015 Men's Prize Giving is now in the record books and what a night it was with 104 members turning out to see each other presented with their respective trophies, or lack of in the case of Nick Lamb. Thanks to all that came, MC Newsham was a success and I'm sure I will be returning in 2016. Compliments must go to the Chef Bob who served up a treat in the lamb, I had the chicken which was excellent, also thanks to the bar staff, the Doney's for selling the prize draw tickets and lastly to Comps for all their hard work.
Project Clubfit
The weather doesn't bloody help us does it, try building in this weather and you can understand what we are up against. Even I battled the elements to help out. Over the past few days we have managed to get some block work done and tidy up the pathway round the new building. This pathway will become tarmac eventually but for now it is compacted hardcore, this opens up the original route to the course and saves people walking over the grass entrance where it will become a bit boggy. Below are a couple of pictures as of today, as you can see the build is at around five feet and will eventually go as high as around three metres before the roof begins construction. Next week Gary from GolfZone will be seeing us about the installation work which will begin once we have the building fully complete. Find out how you could win our competition which is continuing until the end of next week!

Jack Senior Latest
I caught up with Jack after his trip to Oman in which he finished 26th place to complete the 2015 Challenge Tour Season; he also finished 26th on the Order of Merit, top 15 secure a full European Tour card for 2016. What this means for Jack is a trip to Spain to compete in the final stage of Qualifying School, a gruelling six round event giving full playing privileges to those finishing near the top. Jack is feeling good and he had some positive words to say about 2016 regardless of whether he secured full playing privileges as his category means he will indeed get some starts on the European tour! South Africa dominates the early season schedule so hopefully Jack will be playing in a few of those to start the season. Good luck to Jack in Spain, we are all rooting for him as always!
A minute with the Coach
It has been a tough week weather wise and it has been difficult for guys on my winter programme as I've had to move quite a few around as I don't want to start the lads off working on their swings in high winds. I could bring the net down and hit inside, but I have always coached seeing the ball fly that is the way it should be.
I did manage to do some good work with Alex Batson and Chris Carney. Chris is breaking into the County squad after a successful end to 2015 with a win at Caldy in the Schools Champonships.
I also had a few hours with Jack Senior who's game is moving the right way after a solid performance in Oman, who's at the Final Stage of European Tour Qualifying, fingers crossed the work we've down over the past few months can help him in Spain.
Now the weather's turned I thought I would offer a little tip for all our winter golfers at Heysham and beyond. The air is becoming cooler, take that extra club or two and control the flight, limit backswing to 3/4 to take the backspin off the ball as the wind will play mayhem. Use our range to perfect this technique during the winter nights, I hope to see some of you hitting these knock down shots this winter!
