Time to get into the Christmas Spirit
Christmas is around the corner and with only 3 weeks until the big day, it is time you got in the spirit with us here at Clubfit Golf; From now until Christmas every Sunday we will be offering out some mince pies with our very popular coffees. Consider this a thank you and Merry Christmas from Trevor, Linda, Ryan and Chris.
We look forward to seeing many of you on Sunday during the winter league and for those that aren't playing pop in for us a browse around, check out some of our Christmas offers, Mrs D's deal of the week, chances to win some gifts and much more; check out the rest of this newsletter to find out more. This week we have some detailed updates on Project Clubfit and a little bit of news on our junior member John Wilding taking part in the European Junior Open in Spain.
Project Clubfit
We are soon approaching a media blackout on part of #projectclubfit as building work starts to work it's way inside. This week we have worked our way successfully through the start of electrical work thanks to Ray Adams; even if he did need his waterproofs on the whole time! Ray has installed all the wiring needed for sockets, lights and more importantly the simulator itself; Ray battled a not fully watertight roof the whole time! Dave and his team have managed to get a bit of work done on the roof, installing the insulation ready to be sealed in matching the current clubhouse roof, fingers crossed a bit of decent weather will have a finish on this by Monday. Thanks to Dave for squeezing in this work during a busy period.
We have secured a shuttering system for the room, thanks to Steve Nunn for his help, he has been awesome and in a couple of weeks we will have our little red door shuttered in. Dave will be installing a ramp up to the door in the near future to allow wheelchair users access to the room. Myself & Ryan have been busy collating the rest of the work that needs doing including the immediate area around the screen for those off center hits and the back part of the room for socialising. We have narrowed down the name of the room to 3 names, the winner will be picked in the coming weeks, so look out for that one to see if your pick was the chosen one!
Not much in pictures to show you this week but stay tuned next week because we will soon be stopping the photos until the room is finished in full.
Festive fun
Heysham has some fun events coming up as we head towards Christmas. Here's what's ahead at HGC:
Children's Christmas Party - Saturday, 12 December from 2pm. Come and join us for an afternoon of magic, entertainment, games and dancing with Trevor Cooke. Junior members, members' children and grandchildren are all welcome for this festive fun party. Food will be available from 3pm and even Santa will visit around 4.15pm with some pressies for the kids. This event is FREE ! All you have to do is fill out a slip behind the bar by Monday, 30 November so the elves can get the presents ready!
HGC Night of Celebration - Friday, 4 December from 8pm. Come wish Gill Gardner and deputy greenkeeperJohn Burrows a happy retirement as they finish in their posts at Heysham Golf Club. Everyone is welcome and there will be supper available as well as plenty of booze in the typical HGC way! For more details see bar staff or pro shop staff.
A minute with the Coach
It's done nothing but rain since I came back from Egypt; not one single day has passed where I haven't had a right moan, fair play to Dave for keeping the course open but we are struggling to keep the course open because of how wet it gets.
You only have to check out the picture to see how wet the range can get, please bare with us whilst this wet weather is here. I am carrying on my lessons as is Trevor, but I am having to pick the balls up with clikka tubes.
Amazingly this week I even had Callum and my mother-in-law Irene (74 years young!) helping me pick some up in the mud.
We will look everyday to see if we can open it so please give us a bell in the shop before coming up!
I just wanted to let you all know about youngster John Wilding who is doing battle in Spain, taking part in the European Junior Open. Matty Bargh is definitely helping on his bag and I am pleased to say John made the strong cut on a score of 152 (gross). He now plays 2 rounds and I wish him all the luck in the world, great future ahead of him!
