There may have been a question on everyone's lips after Sunday's monumental 1st Captains Qualifier....who is Kurt Boulter? That's because the first-time winner shot an outrageous 60 nett to qualify in First place for the knockout phase. Kurt also bagged himself a car for the weekend courtesy of Pye Motors, not a bad days golf for him after joining Heysham in 2024.
Elsewhere in the field of 192 it's worth mentioning the 2nd place finish of Dave Luraschi with a 63, worthy of winning any competition but also only just getting 2nd on a card play-off. Dave was recently fitted for some new Ping G440 clubs with Elliot so it's great to see him up there just pipping Mickey Lee to the post. Mickey in third is hopefully now chipping well after a few sessions with myself, showing what a few tweaks and some practice can do; his handicap now butchered in half! Some other success with youngster Dylan Jackson firing in a 67 with his new Wilson clubs! He was amongst 36 players that beat their handicap!
Well Done to all 16 qualifiers and the massive field for taking part, the raffle benefited with the results found below:
Raffle:
Curtis Done £65
Carl Sadler £45
Jack Lofthouse £30
Adam Mason £20
Keith Gardner £10

Course News
The course is really taking shape and one great thing is witnessing the new sprinklers firing out onto the greens & approaches. We can't wait to see the condition of the course throughout the season as it really has got better each year! This week Dave & co. have been working on the greens with a verti-cut and top dressing. This will then be closely followed by dropping the height of the cut from 4.8mm to 3.75mm over the next week! I best get the clubs out for a knock!
