Another busy week of competition at Heysham this week, so let's get to it, starting with the extra additional stableford event last Wednesday, with 51 taking part in the 18-Hole event that was won by Lesley Norris on 41 points. Overall, there was some good scoring with 14 golfers breaking par. In the battle of the 3 9-hole golfers, John Leamon won with 16.
On to Saturday and we had the Tudor Trophy, a division 3 Nett event with a strong field of 40 taking part, even with a competition the next day. Dave Jewitt, fresh off his winter break in Tenerife, was victorious, winning his first board competition with a superb 63 nett. Michael Adamson (64) and Rob Howard (65) rounded out the top 3
Sunday's competition was the first of our Presidents Qualifiers, the top 16 qualifying for the knockout stages starting at the end of this month. Well done to all those who qualified, with Carl Holt coming out on top with a superb 63. That pipped Ryan Grime by a shot, with Simon Airey a further shot back. Special mention to Liam Hayhurst, who qualified after coming for a lesson on Thursday. Drastically struggling with the driver, it was great to see a quick turnaround in his game, resulting in a 68 nett.
