Course News
The driving range has been getting some much needed work done over the past week with a new paint job, added security and new mats. It is now (as of writing) back open and hopefully we can continue to update the facilities with planned upgrades to the lighting. After that, the main job is to better drain the area as it has gone really wet in the past 5-10 years leading to sporadic closures. The team continue to try keep it open with hand collecting, but even then balls can become plugged and lost. Hopefully, we can continue these upgrades to enhance your experience practicing in the winter months.
Out on the golf course the staff actually got a cut in yesterday, their first of the year after a wet start to 2025. The week ahead looks good weather wise so it's nice to see a bit of definition to the fairways, even if we are still protecting them ahead of spring. On the greens, the team have punched some holes in this week which lets more oxygen get into the profile, this gets them ready for the first top dressing in the next couple of weeks.
Thank You to our members and regular visitors for continuing to help protect the course during these winter months, we can't wait for spring.
Competitions News
First of all Congratulations to Johnny Hanson for his Hole-In-One on Sunday at the 3rd. It didn't help his team but at least people in the club house had a whiskey or 2! With 3 holes closed to allow the 136 players time to get round, the scoring drops off but not by too much! 78 points from the team of Mick Cannon, Shaun Gorry, Graham Spavin and Dave Holliday was enough to win by 1.
The winter league is now into it's 2 final months so for those members who would like to see where they stand, log on to your IG account on your laptop to check the Competitions Notice board.
