Competitions News:

Team event in the winter league this last week with a strong field. Daddy Lockhart beat his sons team by a point as he was joined by new Captain Scott Lee, Nigel Shortland and Andy Taylor. Their score of 80 was enough to win this week but with penalty points proving to be more of a hindrance it will be interesting to see what happens in weeks to come. Read on below to find out about another event coming up for the Captains Drive-In.

Our new Captains for 2026

We would like to welcome Scott Lee & Karen Cleasby into their new roles as Captain's of Heysham Golf Club for 2026. It will be a huge honour for them help lead this club as longtime members and integral cogs of this HGC machine. Scott as men's Captain will also be celebrating his 60th and what a way it would be for him to also qualify for the Clayton Trophy in his year in office. Karen will be leading an ever growing Ladies section with new golfers joining the club I'm sure she will be a popular figurehead. We look forward to helping & supporting them during their year, Good Luck to both!

As outgoing Captain's Tim Barry & Sharon Timperley exit stage right, we would like to offer our Thanks for their support during 2025. The popular duo were a pleasure to work with and must be very proud of the clubs achievements during their time in office. Tim, with his unbelievable work with 'Fore Get Me Not Golf' and Sharon helping to push forward with our Ladies section as well as supporting the club in many different areas. We wish them well as they can now concentrate on their own golf games in peace!

The Captain's drive-in competition and official handover ceremony takes place on Saturday 21st March with a 12.30pm shotgun start, the entry fee includes food afterwards and after everyone has finished their food a presentation will be made to the winning teams and the unveiling of the new Captain's photos will take place.
